So bliz said they would remove layering at patch 2, but they didnt say how that would work. Like am I gonnna get dumped on a server and my friends dumped on another? GG if that happens

not at all. Layers are all the same server. When they refer to layers being servers its more a “back-end” server your still on the same wow server, you are just being balanced so it doesnt stress the physical hardware on their end.
I’m not sure if you understand how layering works. It’s not sharding.
Layering will never put you with people from another Classic Server. You will never see anyone who did not choose specifically to play on your server.
When Layering is removed in Phase 2, you will simply see more people from your server than you did before. Your friends who also rolled on the same server as you will still be on that server as well.

No. You’re going to get dumped in to a server with perhaps a higher population cap than the per layer population cap version, and if it’s possible, a bunch of queues.
But that’s it.
If you’re on a Too Busy server, it’ll be up to you to either stick it out or move off of it. If Blizzard is extra kind, they may offer free transfers.
