The removal of gold drops from raid bosses in Vanilla/TBC IS intentional

I’ll reply here for visibility, this is a massive downgrade and I will consider it a bug until it gets fixed. BRING BACK RAW GOLD.

It is a fun playstyle that allows old content not to die and doesn’t harm anyone, if it affects the economy you should go much harder against gold selling websites and bots, just like you do with certain project that starts with a T

18k? Even clearing every single TBC raid is only ~4500g. Where are you getting 18k from lmao

nah its about 18k man

Love the people making authoritative statements - but hey, look at LFG, ain’t no combo quite like us wow players and talking out our nether holes - with no source:

https://x.com/Artemishowl_/status/1983589452837744835

Yeah it was a fun play style that I think shows how out of touch they are from the COMMUNITY.

Honestly, I think they should just attack gold farm bots. I have no issues with mining / herbing / skinning bots that make things really cheap on the AH.

When I initially made this thread this didn’t exist? They are so out of touch with their own community they thought it would be as simple as telling the masses it was intended and it would die there. NO, it’s not that simple and that statement is simply someone speaking out of turn back peddling now because they realized the hornets nest they poked is alot bigger than they initially realized. Actually use your nether holes in your skull you call eyes and see my initial thread was 21h ago while Artimishowls “intended” post was 18h ago.

Hey, dude, thats on me for not hitting the reply button on a person but just on the thread. I’m not yelling at you, I’m not making fun of you, so lets dial it back a bit, scroll up from my message, ask yourself if its more likely that I’m lying and DID aim it at you, or if I aimed it at ANY of the messages above me of people screaming confidently that they know whats what, and then calm down.

It’s funny you say to calm down as though your level headed speaking out of our nether hole comment was a calm statement to make. I know you weren’t aiming it at me you were aiming it at the collective of people that are participating in a forum discussion as to why Blizzard stealth nerfed a particularly popular, as it seems, activity in classic MoP. Yes while it was EVENTUALLY going to happen it wasn’t until WOD prepatch aka during the end of SoO. More so to that it would seem the WoW token was having abnormal spikes just prior to this change as though to suggest something other than “normal” commerce was taking place. There’s a reason an official blue post hasn’t been made on the matter yet, why it wasn’t mentioned in the patch notes, we just want to know why and I as others are conversing on the “why”.

Also to note everyone citing “we all knew this was coming there for it should be accepted”. This hasn’t been classic with no changes for a very long time. There have been many changes such as the new platinum challenge modes, as seen as of this weeks “patch”. As well as no LFR and the addition of celestial dungeons to replace LFR. This all being said, at this point it isn’t a “just because it happened then it shall be” version of classic anymore.

Dude, again - read**.

I’m the one blowing them up on twitter trying to get answers. I have been since the consolidation snafu. I’m on the mop-bugs github, asking there. I’m literally on the same side of this fight as you. I’m taking issue with the STREAM of people who know OBJECTIVELY LESS than I do, and I barely know anything, speaking as if they have some inside source at Blizz telling them whats going on. There ALSO hasn’t been a blue post about paid transfers not working to the new virtual realms. Or about the vampiric embrace bug making shadow priests outheal actual healers. I’m aiming at at the collective of people that are ‘participating’ in a ‘discussion’ where like 1 in 10 people are claiming that its “absolutely intended” or “absolutely not intended” and stirring the other 9 of 10 into an absolutely rabid FROTH when the only actual facts we have are:

Gold isn’t dropping.

Artemishowl said ‘intended’.

then Artemishowl said ‘oops, not intended, unsure, discussing internally.’

Thats what we have. Thats where we’re at.

Is the communication nonexistent and infuriating? Yes.
Is it a travesty that a huge company owned and backed by one of the largest companies on the market is incapable of staffing appropriately and communicating effectively? Yes.
Is it an absolute clownshow that I have to hop onto twitter, a site that I hate owned by a man I hate even more, in order to communicate with Blizzard employees because they hate their own forums? YES.

Is the literal torrent of uninformed armchair project managers screaming at and over each other about ‘ITS INTENDED’ and ‘ITS NOT INTENDED’ literally part of why they don’t post on the forums? Yes.

Should they revert the change? Yes.

Should they communicate the changes they’re discussing better? Yes.

Should everyone take a breath, calm down, and wait for an official statement, and THEN if we don’t like it blow them up on twitter? Also yes.

Until we have a statement, we don’t KNOW why. Its equally as likely that Phil Spencer walked into Irvine HQ with a shotgun and said ‘more tokens’ as it is that its a clownfiesta spaghetti code bug caused by a half dozen different codesets being operated by ‘vibe coders’ using chatGPT. It could be either, or both, or neither and something completely different. Until they say something, we don’t KNOW.

And, whether you particularly feel inclined to admit it or not, a HUGE swath of our community, HEAVILY REPRESENTED IN FREQUENT FORUM POSTERS, are emotionally volatile and have a MASSIVE complex and chip on their shoulder. Speculating with 0 substance or sources is what leads to THOSE people rocking up on the mop-bugs tracker and getting spam-banned because they can’t go more than a paragraph without spouting out a slur or calling the devs gamer words. Which, IN TURN, makes it harder for those of us who can chain words together without drooling on ourselves to get actual usable answers and reasonings behind them.

If you genuinely think that a few hundred messages on the forums of people screeching at each other about their pet conspiracy theories is going to get you real answers from Blizzard, I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but it won’t. Its actually the exact behavior that made it SO MUCH HARDER for us to get answers from Blizzard, going all the way back to Tseric and Ghostcrawler.

You wanna carry water for the entire forum community? Go nuts. But you should at least be aware that the fact that every time a blue posts here, they get dogpiled on by people screeching for buffs for their class, or tinfoil hat theories, or that one lunatic orc hunter who just rants about DEI on every post, and THATS why they don’t post here.

Don’t go away mad. Just …. go away.

I don’t think people needed to wait for someone to simple say it was intended when ALL vanilla/TBC no longer drops gold as well as specifically the gauntlet after Noth (the actual bot farm) to know it was intended. Yes it “could” be a bug but I think it’s WAY too coincidental that 2 completely separate versions of the game and a “random” spot in the middle of a raid in a 3rd version that was otherwise unaffected by this change happened. I personally have been a long time WoW gamer since 2007 and I don’t need to wait at the edge of my chair for confirmation. You can infer certain things from actions and this is such a case.

If they come out with a statement that it was an unintended bug which I doubt they will but if they do then it’s an extremely suspicious one at best.

:+1: Alright, gave it the old college try, but the “No, I’ve been playing since 2007! MY conspiracy theories are worth MORE you don’t GET IT!” did it for me. Since you’re not inclined to actually poke them on twitter, and just wanna sit here stirring the poop pot, good night and good luck, I hope I never see you again <3

There’s a thing called pattern recognition, I know you want to try real hard to label this as a “conspiracy” theory but to my reason for stating I’ve been playing since 2007 wasn’t a flex as you’d like to think but more over to further strengthen my original comment, my time spent dealing with this company and playing their game IS my source seeing as they have yet to make any official statements and may still not even do so.

It is amazing how hard Blizzard is trying to make everyone quit World of Warcraft for good.

I find this comment to be without factual basis. “Everyone” does not care. Not even “most” care. I’ve done a couple of straw polls in trade chat and NOT A SINGLE PERSON had anything to say against it, nobody said they were leaving and indeed it certainly appeared that NOBODY CARES. What you have here is a vocal minority that spam the forums with the same commentary over and over. I do not for one minute believe this is representative of the general population.

you were never going to quit.

if dont get it. what do you gain by posting about letting (insert expansion name) die.

do you need attention? what goes on in your brain? whatever is looming, there is no need to post every idea that pops into your head

just ignore. 90% of his posts are negative.
