The reason there are private servers

We asked blizzard for no changes and they just couldn’t help themselves. The game is not the same as vanilla and that was all we asked. All these hot “Fixes” nerf, what ever blizzard wants to call them. This is why there are private servers.

No… private servers existed because Classic didn’t exist.

And now they are changing Classic from what vanilla was. There is now another reason for private servers. We wanted no changes.

Private servers predate Classic.
You’re claiming that #NOCHANGES created private servers. This is patently untrue.

Private servers still exist, but that’s because not all private servers intended to shutdown when Classic launched.

You spelled PIRATE wrong. They are not private. They are open to the public. They are, however, pirated versions of Blizzard’s IP and are illegal. Stop trying to make them sound better than what they are i.e. Illegal trash.

Trash?

More like the game I paid for in 2005, not this ARPG everyones a hero daily grind turd.

Thats why I play classic, its the game I bought 15 years and wanted to play again. Retail has been dead to me and many others since cataclysm, the current retail game is legal trash.

This game was never true Vanilla. These private servers existed during vanilla. People used them to get around a sub fee. The changes to classic wow did NOT create private servers… :person_facepalming::person_facepalming:

To be honest, I’m just happy I have a version of the game that plays pre-wotlk. (When game/class design changes started.) I always enjoyed classes and game design of vanilla and TBC. I love the talent tree system. They could make as many balance changes to the game as they want. As long as they leave the talent trees alone and leave class play style alone I’m good.

The nochange community is toxic for this game. Games need to be supported Many private servers did special things that kept the game interesting. Such as increase difficulty, gave bosses new abilities, etc. Without change classic will die out in about a year or two when people get bored because they’ve done everything there is to offer.

Private servers exist because people are thieving sods who want to have a janky, shoestring version of Vanilla to fly hack around in while clipping through floors and paying 20 USD for full Tier 3.

Getting Ignite changed into authentic Vanilla mechanics doesn’t deserve its own thread of whining.

You paid for a license, not a game.

It’s the game you bought 15 years ago brought to you on a updated game engine that didn’t exist 15 years ago. It’s not the same game. Sorry to break it to you. :woman_shrugging:

It’s not Vanilla- never will be. But it’s close enough for my friends and me.

I prefer to think of Classic as “Experienced Vanilla”. It’s basically the same game but with changes and fixes that Blizzard would have implemented had they known back in “the day”. I personally would have gone further and fixed all the pathing exploits in the game so the multi-boxers, botters, and RMT gold farmers couldn’t take advantage of the older game mechanics to the point they have now.

Thus far, the only people I see complaining about such changes hide behind the “no changes” cry because Blizzard nerfed some exploit they were using in the game for their own personal gain.

I am quite happy to have Blizzard keep “fixing” Classic and actually wish they would do more to nerf the exploits that people came back to Classic to take advantage of. Let those people go back to the pirate/private servers where there are no rules or sense of fair play. Good riddance I say!

Thanks.

Imagine thinking private servers were #NoChanges.

Half of them were F-tier funservers with P2W shops and nerfed farming mechanics so the Xiaos could sell the gold created for them by a GM at a higher cost and cut the GM in on a % of the take.

Others just had bent GMs that pregen’d character templates with whatever gear you decided to pay for. Rank 14 complete with title? Sold. Full Naxx geared Mage? SOLD. BIS forever Spriest? Sold.

No reason to play a p server now. Classic is here.

Classic exists for one reason, and one reason only: to act as a hammer to smite thieves who shelter in more permissive EU countries and try to claim that WoW is ‘abandonware’, so that somehow makes it OK to steal.

There’s so much wrong with this post, I don’t even know where to start.

had a friend, emphasis had, who tried to turn me on to private servers. They may be fine for dicking around but I’ll wait a few more years for legit TBC and LK. I prefer to support the company.

That “we” is distorted. SOME players asked Blizzard for no changes.

Many thousands of OTHER players asked for changes. That started when Classic was announced, months before it went live.

So what does “we” mean? That the only players that count are the ones that asked for no changes?

The one good thing a lot of private servers did was disable world buffs in raids for the first month or so of release. Made it a lot more interesting.

I can only think of just a few changes since Classic launched and most of those could arguably be called exploits. I’m a no changes guy myself but I can’t help but laugh when people ramble on about how Blizzard has ruined Classic with a bunch of changes. It’s reasonably pure.
