The reason the Alliance has never had a leader become a raid boss…

I thought it was actually a cute moment. I’m sure others feel strongly about it one way or another, but for what it’s worth it gave me the warm and fuzzies. Just a family getting to see each other again after going through a heck of a time.

Cuz alliance is uwu soft babies

Can’t make them be responsible for anything they do, Rodgers is still out there despite massacring disabled troops and opening fire on horde while under a truce

Horde die whenever they do anything against the alliance, alliance get celebrated for anything they do against horde

Technically there has been. Jaina and High Tinker Mekkatoque in the BoD raid.

Besides your usual raid bosses. No one is ever truly punished for their atrocities.

One could say Sylvanas got even let easy, considering she did the whole teldrassil thing and her punishment is literally just helping souls in the maw.

Garrosh is the only character that has been punished for his misdeeds. Jaina didn’t get punished for the purge, Maiev didnt get punished for killing the highborne, Thrall had slave gladiators in orgrimmar and no one complained, the forsaken human farms are not addressed at all, Genn attacking sylvanas in legion is fine.

I think at the end, even in times of peace, Alliance wont punish their own for what they did to the horde or the horde will punish their own for what they did with the alliance.

You kill the guy behind that during the hillsbrand quest, like immediately

Thank you for taking this seriously - and yes I did change the title - I realized I kinda zorked up there and it wasn’t representing the idea I wanted to put out here.

Also -

All of Westfall exists. Most of Stormwind and Elwyn got evicted - the only folks living there are nobles and military personnel. King Wrynn oversaw the second crushing of the Defias who, once again, were trying to hold him accountable. Not a genocide, but I think crushing a justified rebellion is worth looking at.

One could also view the Dwarves’ unwillingness to help the gnomes, and their blanket distrust and aggression towards the Dark Irons even after their unification kinda reflects badly on’em.

There’s also just - everything the Alliance has done against the Tauren. You’ll find lots of Human outposts in Tauren lands - but not Vice versa.

Ok I stand corrected.

Peak Golden era writing was Mekkatorque invading someone else’s home, calling the defenders thugs (yikes!), getting beat to a pulp for it, and coming out even more powerful, learning nothing.

The Alliance doesn’t “do” introspection. Even Garrosh yeeted a bad egg off a cliff for killing innocents. Varian promoted the Alliance equivalent in the S Barrens.

THIS.
The horde struggles and claws to find a place in this world. The alliance would hunt all of them for skins and meat, and enslave the rest - and they would still pat themselves on the shoulder.

While i do agree with most of your post, you offer amazing insight into the Horde and Alliance, you forgeet one major thing.

The Alliance leaders have become multiple raid bosses. Arthus and Illidan, both leaders in their own right.

Hordes main role in WoW since Legion has just been something to prop up alliances stories tbh

Vanilla/TBC/wotlk/cats/mop all had a fair mix of both factions, even if they would lean Hardee’s towards a certain faction during a patch, but since then it’s just alliance being great and horde dying

yeah, that’s definitely in the BAD column. Humans aren’t innocent little lambs, don’t get me wrong. And dwarves, my favorite race in all of fantasy, can make some real questionable moral choices when it comes to non-dwarf concerns. The pre-cata stance to Dark Irons could/should definitely have led to having a Bronzebeard raid boss, but, well, we got Magni instead and that rift has been…patched over? sorta? mostly. Can’t speak to their unwillingness to help the gnomes you’re referring to: weren’t they unable to because of some other event going on? I might be confusing my histories.

I do think/hope that Turalyon is going to maybe break the trend you’ve noticed in the near future? Who knows.

Varian Wrynn was captured by Onyxia, then was turned into Fel dust about a decade later.
Anduin Wrynn was captured by Sylvanas then turned into a discounted Lich King (and literally became a raid boss).
Jaina Proudmoore was a raid boss in Battle for Azeroth…
Magni Bronzebeard turned to stone, locked in an earthly prison for years.
Moira Bronzebeard was kidnapped by the Dark Irons but then fought by Dagran Thaurissan’s side as a dungeon boss.
Malfurion Stormrage was trapped within the Emerald Dream by Xavius, twice.
Gelbin Mekkatorque was a raid boss in Battle for Azeroth, and in the same raid as Jaina even.

Its because the alliance is weak and anyone seeking tyranny knows to leave such a pitiful crew of followers for a higher force. Azshara and Arthas both did, and Illidan continues to have a larger influence on the cosmos, all after ceasing their ties with their former alliance.

Horde leaders conveniently have a horde of forgotten toys to rule so when they want to rebel they can just draw on that for support.

In fairness, Willow means that Alliance has never had to put down one of their own leaders in a raid for turning villain. All the examples of Alliance leaders fought were mind controlled or canonically fought only by Horde combatants. Benedictus and Fandral are pretty much the only relevant examples.

And in fairness to the other side, no other Alliance leaders have come close to committing the same violence against their own people as Garrosh and Sylvanas, or just straight up betrayed the planet to side with outside forces.

Kill of some of the human characters. Elune knows we have too darn many.

Bonus: kill off the Wrynns. They are a narrative black hole who keeps the Alliance from having internal politics or depth. Plus it might make Stormwind have some interesting storylines.

Anduin was abducted, had the essence of his soul ripped out and was forced to do things against his will. Clearly that would cause PTSD in just about anyone.

Malfurion got caught up in the business of Yasera being forced to turn against her own people, killed and taken by Elune to Shadowlands and the dust up over whether it was his time or her time. Took a while for the Winter Queen to sort that one out.

As for the Gnomes, there is no longer an Alliance v Horde conflict. Gnomes are free to work for anyone.

I was very pleased when I learned Fandral was going to be a boss. He was insufferable, rude, and dismissive.

I am not reading all of that, but I’m happy for you, or sorry that it happened. Whichever applies.

Fandral was such a xenophobic undiplomatic jerk its actually shocking he didn’t get along well with the other Alliance leaders.
