I think the reason people want equal gear despite them saying so things are more “skill based” is really a total void of skill on their part. Gear is like a vending machine you put skill into the machine to do raiding or m+ or rated pvp in return you get gear for the skill it took to do those things. Now enter the people wanting equal gear the only reason they would want it is cause they have no skill to give to get something in return. Sorry for the formatting phone tell me if I’m wrong
You are in fact quite charming.
I see nothing wrong with that flawless air tight argument
No. Not everyone wants “equal gear.”
There’s a gearing ladder in this game. That’s how it should be.
And I say this as a previous progression raider and now open world player.
You’re not right nor wrong.
Unfortunately, DPS charts exist, and many MANY people go off data to calculate which class is the best. Icy Veins even stated many times, “bring the player, not the class.”
You’ll find people rejecting players because of class selection. It’s really stupid.
On the other hand, solo players want the easy way out, and want buffed gear to take just that. And by solo players, I mean players that do mostly quests or scenarios and the like. No raiding or Mythic+.
Should they get their buffed gear, guess what? They complain anyway, and no battle is won.
It’s a huge chaotic mess. And we have a mega thread to “end the war on solo q” to prove it.
Are these no skill having equal gear wanting people in the room with you right now?
Seriously, who is saying this? I have never seen this.
Let’s say this scenario does happen, and solo players that mostly do quests and scenarios somehow do get buffed gear like you say. They will be in the game, in their buffed gear, mostly doing quests and scenarios. I’m failing to see how this would have any affect on you, because they’d still just be… playing solo.
IMO the way Blizzard seems to be doing it is fine. They put a big time gap on being able to obtain gear if you’re a solo player that doesn’t do M+ or raid, so that by the time people who do M+ and raid get all geared up, your few awesome pieces you finally get are literally meaningless to them. Especially moreso because you’re just a solo player, no one is affected by you.
Stopped here. Because solo players shouldn’t have gear like mine where they complete quests or world quests and obtain mythic gear. And it would create a bigger unnecessary excuse to NOT play Mythic+.
We already have a tank shortage.
I don’t want equal gear, I want better gear. And really good looking gear like say a pair of black tights that I can put with any top.
sounds like a ok idea
Why do you think better gear would entice solo players to do M+? Why do you think they are not actively choosing to NOT do M+ and raiding, and instead play solo? Nothing would entice solo players to do either of these because they are actively choosing not to. This isn’t Vanilla or BC anymore, it doesn’t take a giant time investment to do either M+ or raid anymore.
The less gear progression you give to the majority of players (solo players), the sooner they stop playing the game because they’ve run out of stuff to do/make progress on. If you think that’s good game design because you want to dangle a carrot on a stick in front of them and sit around hoping they’ll chase after it, then you’re delusional.
Well there’s not much you can do about it since we can go to the AH and buy anything anyone puts up for sale.
It shouldn’t. Playing Mythics just for gear is a problem from the get-go. You play Mythics to not only have fun with your class, but to master it as well.
So then you agree, people who don’t do M+ are not doing it because it’s not something they enjoy doing. And no amount of dangling gear at them will entice them to do it to fix the “tank shortage” you claim can be fixed by not giving solo players any form of gear progression.
It’s really just like anything else people with more skills and more ability rise to the top simply via the rules of nature. Now there are some fields where people who are absolutely inept are at the top cause of nepotism but those are usually few and far between
No. I say people don’t do Mythics because they’re in their entitled introverted shell and believe too much that this community is toxic. Either that, or they don’t enjoy playing their class. I can’t tell you how many times people boost a class just for the sake of taking the easy way out.
I’m going to end here before we jump further into petty WoW forum politics.
Nah dude I’m pretty sure people just like playing this game solo, and just don’t like doing M+ or raiding. It’s not that complicated. You’re doing a lot of projection on random strangers and it’s super weird.
Some would want equal gearing because they really can’t make their minds up if they wanted to raid.but if by chance there was an opening they can play it. It has little to do with skill even when most do have that already.
K.
I’ll see you.
Nice job being the bigger person
And gatekeeping that prevents accessibility. People don’t want to run groups with strangers. They want the best of the best for every run and that’s not sound game development.
