The constant accept/“lol you’re getting returned to the front of the queue because someone declined but have fun waiting 10 more minutes” cycle for queueing is old.
Why can’t the queueing system be like other games where you’re held in a group once you click accept and wait for others to join?
I’m not talking about dropping you into a BG without everyone present first. I’m talking about staying in the forming group, and the group should finish forming prior to putting you into an instance, rather than just kicking you out after 40 seconds and falsely telling you half the time you’re at the front of the queue when instead you get to wait another 10-15 minutes for the pleasure of repeating the cycle.
That would be much worse to hold people inside for 15 mins while it refills.
The main reason this happen is because people queue in multiple queues at the same time. So if one group become viable before your queue pop then youll see your queue lose a bunch of people.
The issue is that people queue up, then they wait so long that either they step away from the computer, or they’ve fallen asleep or been logged out.
The system continuously fills every group at the same time. When a group is full, your queue pops. But some people have already logged out, and you get the instant “declined” notice. And other times someone doesn’t accept, and so the group goes back into queue.
Meanwhile, there may be a group that lost a tank, and the tank gets put there, because a group in progress is a higher priority than one still forming.
This is mostly a problem for Battleground Blitz, I’ve seen. Usually would go through 6~10 dropped queues before actually getting in but at the same time, rather sit in trade chat in queue than end up in a lopsided BG round.
It means keeping you in that queued group rather than dropping you out and making you wait another 10 minutes to pop just to click accept over and over.
5 out of 6 people accepted and the 6th declined? Keep those 5 there and try another 6th person without having to click accept over and over and over again while falsely being told you’re returned to the “front” of the queue half the time.
Where are you getting “inside” from? I thought I was very clear that you wouldn’t be put inside anything until the group was fully formed.
Picture any other modern game that forms groups in a lobby. You have a pretty beautiful window showing the group that is forming. You’ve clicked accept, so you stay in this pretty window along with other people who have clicked accept. You keep doing things in the open world for now. The list expands as more people join. There is no “hurp durp 40 seconds past and not everyone accepted, time to boot everyone back out!” period, you just sit in this pretty little window until the group is fully formed, THEN you’re dropped in the instance. You don’t keep clicking accept over and over.
So you just do not want to press accept multiple time? That’s what you’re fighting for?
Even if it means that 5-10 mins could have made you not ready and that you might end up kicked from having accepted a long ago.
The current system works fine, pressing accept more than once is not the worse design.
When you click accept, you’re committing to the instance. If you’re going to be “not ready” in 5-10 minutes, then you shouldn’t be committing to begin with, just like it is now.
No, it’s not a tin foil hat theory. LFR has this all the time as well and there is no matchmaking going on there. Click accept after waiting 10 minutes, and a couple people didn’t join? Have fun waiting an additional 25-30 minutes “at the front of the queue.”
It’s bizarre you think the current state is acceptable. Have you never played a game with a modern and functioning queue/lobby system?
Why can’t the game just put whoever accepted into an instance regardless if we are missing some or not, then 100% for sure the next person to sign up will get invited to our group first and foremost before anyone else and they can just filter them in over the next couple of minutes.
This whole 1 tank, 4 heals and 14 DPS before it puts you in an instance is really what’s holding us back.
We have the same general idea overall. Only difference between us is whether a group should be placed into an instance before the groups are full. That could cause issues in BGs though so in my view they should form outside of the instance first, but we have the same general thinking
One dps not hitting accept on a 5-man run when the tank and healer already hit accept = the group starts…that person can just catch up or it can find us another one. I’m sick of hitting accept a billion times too b/c some moron is AFK while queued.
They already just throw people into BG’s and non ranked arena regardless if you are ready or not, the problem with that is that the match starts if you are ready or not.
At least with PVE you can wait around for the rest to show up, hell you can even zone out and keep doing what you are doing until the rest show up, then zone back in when it’s go time.
The problem with LFD/LFR are the jokers and the players who just have no idea about raid customs, like players who just pull the boss before doing a ready check or count down, you might be zoned out but still in the group, yet the tank just goes “F it, time to pull” and you miss out.
Join enough LFR and you will see there is very much a problem. Some queues I have been in have had a queue pop, a second queue pop, then nothing for like 20 minutes later until I look at my spot in queue and notice I am in a fresh queue with just myself.
