No. You’re objectively incorrect. Everything you’re complaining about can be done with a modicum of effort in the game without addons, the only thing addons do is streamline the process

Good luck doing any of the hard content wow has to offer without add-ons, it’s literally why add-ons are allowed.
Sorry but raids have evolved from having 0 mechanics or the only mechanics being you standing in fire.
It’s also why add-ons aren’t allowed in ff14 because the game itself gives you the timers and stuff, wow doesn’t.
guys I keep seeing people ride around on mounts. I think Blizzard should ban this because it’s obviously a superior version of many class features, like sprint.
This undermines the entire point of me playing a rogue. I refuse to use them. Why would I ever want to play a rogue?

cleared naxx back in 2006 before guides and was part of a world first maexxna kill in forgotten heroes, no addons, just awareness. if you dont use it you lose it, and people have lost their skill in situational awareness because they have stopped using it.
Era content isn’t hard.
I said hard content like heroic or mythic.
These fights are designed with the idea of you using add-ons.
No one cares you didn’t use add-ons for target dummy era raids.
By using class feature, that only a few classes shoud have access to !
Macros are useable by any class
then theres no reason to use addons.
also you might want to check again to notice we are in the classic general forum so heroic and mythic are irrelevant.

You’re most likely an era only player, so you wouldn’t of have done anything hard in this game because there is nothing hard to do in era.
not that the OP knows this, but going on 20 years ago, there was an addon – “ICU” – that is functionally similar to “Spy”. However, ICU really only worked for Hunters and Cat Druids because you had to click on the minimap (while Track Humanoids was active), then the name/class/level/guild of the player on the minimap would be displayed as a chat line.
this is actually a much better example of what the OP is fretting about vis-a-vis finding silver elites.

I am an era only player yes, you got me. Forgive me for not playing releases of the game where the design philosophy on the world being the main character completely fell off.

Add-ons aren’t some cheat code, they don’t play the game for you, all they do is relay information in an easier way to see the information.
You have never done a raid fight where 5+ mechanics are going off all at once, the extent of your pve experience is not standing in fire or not standing in a void zone later on in Naxx.
Add-ons aren’t playing the game for you, they don’t calculate all the mechanics coming into play and tell you where to stand so none of the mechanics hit you, they relay information telling you which mechanics are coming.

Only truly trash players need them; they crutch on them and then cry about things being too easy. Your idea of what is wrong is on the right track, but the problems are actually way worse than you think.
Imagine using add-ons in a game designed for using add-ons.
Addons in their original intended limitations are ok. The kind of addons and macros we can make now are a whole world different. Some of them in function with each other can effectively work as a bot. This is the kind of thing that is classed as game automation that is spelled out in the addons forum that you’re not suppose to be able to provide.
Any addon that provides that capacity directly or in most cases indirectly needs a nerf OR better the API nerfed so that it is no longer possible.
