Just got a Heroic Synergistic Brewterializer to drop last night. Then I noticed I had some quest for it, turn it in and bam…now it’s gone. I did not expect the quest to actually take the trinket away from me. That is crazy and should not be a thing.
*Blizzards reply:
"Certain quests will request an item from you such as a trinket or piece of gear to complete.
If gear is given to an NPC to complete a quest, it is not possible to get it back from them or restore it and a new trinket will need to be obtained instead."
This is a very stupid quest that should not exist. Taking my hero trier trinket…insanity.

Sadly, it’s not listed. I might put a ticket in, but I doubt they will do anything. I have never dealt with a quest that actually takes a piece of your equipment. That is insane.
This happened to me to today but I got if from vault as Myth… F. Let me know if you have any luck

That’s what the quest asks for. They want you to bring them an item as part of the quest and completing the quest gives them the item.
Maybe it should have an “are you sure” button, but it’s not like this has never been done before.

Can’t have anything in the Ringing Deeps
Probably should have a dedicated UI for such quests where you actually have to drag the item you are turning in to a slot.

You can put in a ticket, I’ve heard people claim that a GM was able to restore it, but I’d keep expectations tempered. This was entirely a player mistake on your end by not checking what the turn in quest was, and it has been a quest for about eight months.

Yep just happened to me with a hero trinket today. Blizz has pretty much acknowledged that people don’t read quests when they implemented in-game navigation for quest objectives, and the fact that there’s no warning box before it rips a piece of gear off of your character is insane. This is massively wretched quest design, and it’s insanity that the dev team didn’t anticipate this issue.

Blizzard has a no interference policy with gear. They literally told me that when I put in a ticket over gear. And they especially aren’t gonna give you your trinket back because you don’t read quest text. Learn the lesson being taught here.
This isn’t a new quest design, though. We had this in Dragonflight, as well.
Edit: one thing I am seeing though is that if you have two… you’re playing a game of “guess which one it’ll remove from you,” as someone in the Wowhead comments said the quest took the Hero one out of their bank instead of the Champ one they had in their bags to turn in.
Yes.
You gave it away and now it is gone.
That’s normally how it works.
I have never had an NPC return gold, herbs, leather, ore or anything else that I gave them for a quest.
Have you?
They didn’t take it away.
You gave it to them.
No, what is crazy is that you voluntarily handed over your trinket and are now freaking out because you voluntarily handed over your trinket.
Amazing what a quick google search will turn up.
You can get all the trinkets at explorer or adventurer or whatever low level, in follower dungeons, and not have to sacrifice your hero/myth track versions of the items.
Shouldn’t have gotten the mount quest from stonevault last season then.
or should have finished it last season if there was ever any intent to do so.
Questgiver doesn’t care if it came out of your vault or a follower dungeon.
Except the quest will yank whichever one it feels like. Had you read the comments, someone specifically left their Hero track one in the bank and had their Champ one in their bags to turn in. The quest yanked the Hero track.

Hey peeps. I get it. I know. It’s on me. At the end of the day, it’s all good. However, if this was a vault trinket I would be very annoyed.
Like most of us I have been playing since day 1. I looked at the quest log and I was like…ehhhh it’s all good, no chance they would actually take the trinket.
Derp lol.

Did you get it back? It just happened to my fully upgraded mythic Synergistic Brewterializer.
Nope. It’s gone for good. Sorry for your loss
