The quest for the Goldthorn Tea recipe

What is Goldthorn Tea? It’s a simple cooking recipe from classic. Nothing special about it, all it does is restore some mana. So why does it matter?

Well, if you go to your cooking book and go to unlearned recipes, you will see Goldthorn Tea sitting there. It claims the source is a trainer, Henry Stern, in Razorfen Downs. However, Stern has been missing since Warlords of Draenor and no one knows how to get the recipe anymore. There are unobtainable recipes still in-game, such as Dirge’s Kickin’ Chimaerok Chops, but those recipes do not show up as “unlearned” in the profession book. This would imply that the Goldthorn Tea recipe is still obtainable!

Alas, a lot of people have looked and no one can seem to find it, despite years of looking. No Blizzard employee will confirm whether the recipe is still obtainable and we just haven’t looked hard enough or whether its presence in the profession book is a mistake. So I’ve decided it’s time we put this to rest: We need to figure out what is going on. We need to look in every nook and cranny. And we need answers.

I want that recipe, dammit.

Well that’s too damn bad.
You ain’t getting it.

what makes you so special

I’m unsure about what you mean.

Then shed those scales and roll up a toon in Classic Era. I’ll escort you through the dungeon myself!

For the record, I tried looking with an elixir of lesser detect of invisibility and killing myself and looking for a ghost in the outdoor portion of RFD. Nothing.

You would think that putting a ticket in could get you a confirmation on if an item (that had it’s only source removed) was still able to be acquired through other means now

Well then, in the 10.0.5 patch notes:

The legacy recipe for delicious Goldthorn Tea can once again be acquired by observant adventurers in Razorfen Downs.

Thank you Blizz! I know it’s nitpicking, but it’s appreciated!
