The Prowess of Lore Race/Class Combination

The idea for this came out of another thread I was reading about The War of Thorns and how the Elves were taken by surprise. To be fair the Horde did use rouges, that are by nature efficient in sneak attacks. But the elves also have rogues and they were in their home turf. So I wonder what race class combos are more efficient than others. I’ll give my thoughts and I’d like to know yours too and I’ll try not to be Night Elf biased lol.

Warrior: I think it’s a toss up of all races, too many factors.

Shaman: I’m going to give this to the Orcs as they came from a world where the elements were in perfect harmony so it must have helped in their skill. If they are not the best it’s probably the Trolls, or better yet the Taurens because of their connection to the Earthmother, or the Dwarves because of their titan forge connection.

Warlock: The Orcs thanks to Gul’dan.

Mage: Nightborne Elves due to their advances in the art. Pre Legion I’d say it was a toss up between the High/Blood Elves and Shendalr Night Elves, unless there is evidence saying one was better than the other. But I think the Blood Elves have an edge because they can pull more power from the Sunwell.

Druid: Night Elves easily.

Rogues: This one is tough and I think it just may be based in experience and stealth ability so it could be the Elves as a whole. I could be wrong though.

Monk: Pandarian.

Hunter: The elves more specifically the Night Elves. That strong connection to nature and its floral and fauna give them an edge. BE, Tauren, and Trolls are close seconds. Maybe the Orcs too because of their shamanistic lifestyle.

Priest and Paladin: This one is interesting and I think they are too close to be completely separate. I’m giving this to the Draenei and the Night Elves. Each have been worshipping the Light and Elune for thousands of years. The priests of both races have been able to do things that no other races had been known to do such as light forged constructs on Argus and calling down Elune’s power. As for Paladins it’s probably the Dreanei but the paladins are pretty much warrior priests, with that said all of Elune’s Sisterhood are battle trained and have been highly efficient warriors for well over 10k years.

Death Knight: Not sure

Demon Hunter: N/A

Undead death knights have double the death, so double the power.

Man, this could be 12 different threads, there’s a lot to go on for each class.

I’ll just say one thing about Orc Shamans, I think they are a definite first choice, purely because their civilization was built around Shamanism up to their corruption. Can Trolls do it? Sure, but they’ve been more involved in da Voodoo’n Loa. Taurens I’d put in second, purely just because they didn’t colonize an entire continent like the Orcs, I wouldn’t label as them as “successful” as the Orcs.

Potentially Orcs because they were the first, and Ner’zhul is a thing. But in the end the quintessential DK’s have been Arthas and Darion. The power of a DK comes from their runeblade, so in terms of power they’re probably not that varied apart from plot importance - but if we have to pick an archetypal species for them? Human.

Also the DK Icecrown set fits them the best. In terms of the physical fit, I mean. The shoulders play havoc with Horde races.

You’re probably right because I didn’t focus on the specs if each class. Like priest for example, they are one if the only classes that gas a spec that’s the polar opposite of ther other 2, void. That would probably go to the void elves.

Nobody Shadow Priests like the Forsaken. They have an entire religion based around it. The Void elves have been at it for a few months, no? The Forsaken have lived it since WC3. I’m hoping it makes a comeback in their future stories.

Good point, I forgot about that.

Exactly, in that regard I was thinking about Hunters. Night Elves seem like the best fit for Beast Masters, but I’d bet some High Elf/Blood Elf or even Human hunters would have a lead in the Marskman area.

You will never see any races that are not Human, Orc, Night Elf, or Undead make it up there as powerful top tier characters.

An orc warrior is one of the only two mortal characters to ever injure Sargeras.

It’s human or Forsaken, or both.

I wouldn’t say this would be the case or that you’d even call them “advances” they were trapped under a bubble for a lot of time. If anything they probably are a Littlest behind in modern magic.

Not denying their power tho

Toranaar, the King of the Aldrachi.

Can’t say I ever read about that Demon Hunter artifact, very interesting! But of course this started a chain reaction of wiki page reading, and they say that Nethrezim records said it was an avatar of Sargeras. Which is a lot different than THE Sargeras.

Night elves are the best brewmasters cause all they do is whine.

Then an orc remains the only one who’s performed the task.

Honestly knowing what we know now about titans, it had to have been an avatar that Broxigar wounded as well.

If it had been the actual Sargeras, the sheer size difference involved means Brox wouldn’t have been able to even see the titan for what he was unless they were hundreds of miles apart, meaning it would have taken Broxigar months if not years to hack through all those demons on foot, reach Sargeras and then wound his leg.

Not to mention the actual Gorribal would have been unable to impale something as small as an orc, what with its tip alone being the size of a small city.

So frankly no mortal has probably ever injured the actual Sargeras. It just wouldn’t be mechanically feasible.

All canon lore on the subject states that it was Sargeras himself.

Once again, in this new timeline, Sargeras’ first invasion of Azeroth failed. During the end of the war, Broxigar leapt through the portal and using the Axe of Cenarius crafted by Malfurion Stormrage killed many demons before catching the attention of Sargeras himself. In a last desperate attempt to buy time for his allies, Broxigar personally attacked the huge titan with the Axe of Cenarius, wounding him in his leg - an extraordinary feat for anyone as he was said to be invincible. Sargeras then killed Broxigar, however, the scratch was pivotal. When Sargeras approached the gateway, Krasus poured the combined power of his companions at the tiny wound and momentarily distracted Sargeras from the portal. Malfurion used this opening to assail the portal and destabilize it. Refusing to believe his defeat, Sargeras stepped within the collapsing portal in a futile attempt to rebuild it. It imploded, casting him in to the Nether.[17]

Ah, yes, the Rouge hero class. Awe-inspiring with the red powder trail they leave behind whenever they decorate their enemies’ face. I’d almost have preferred that the Horde had fielded rogues instead of rouges, maybe the night elves would have stood a chance.
