I am getting close to reaching the 500 honor level for that final mount, and I am excited. That being said, it’s disappointing that there are no more PvP honor rewards past the 500 honor level. I can understand why - it’s because Blizzard doesn’t care much about making a small percentage of the player base happy. They focus more on the general player base, and I get that. The average player isn’t close to the 500 honor level, so they just don’t see much reason to put time and resources into it. That’s why I believe they should move towards a seasonal honor level progression system. Every new season, there should be a new list of rewards to obtain by farming honor levels, starting at seasonal honor level 1. It’s kind of like a battle pass that games like CoD have, but we shouldn’t have to pay extra for the battle pass. It should just be something included in our subscription cost.
The average player isn’t going to be excited about Blizzard adding more rewards past the 500 honor level because, as I said before, the average player is probably only around the 20-100 honor level if we include all players, not just PvPers. However, a seasonal honor reward system would put everyone at the same level, and everyone could be excited for new honor PvP-themed rewards. I just don’t find gear to be much of a reward anymore. You can basically farm out your full honor set in a day of playing, and that’s good because people should be able to fight back and not just get dunked on for a month of farming before they finally get enough gear to compete. There’s just a lack of rewards for both PvP and PvE; the rewards have been significantly lacking. Rewards don’t have to be tied only to ranked PvP. People should be rewarded for just playing the game. Participation rewards are a good thing; don’t let anyone tell you otherwise.
Look at how Bloodthirsty Title worked out.
Honor level farming has similar issues in this game, it’s less noticeable NA side.
On EU there are several communities which farm these levels in a group setting, 10,20,40 etc every day/night. Leans heavily into degenerate playstyles.
It’s quite possible that a better system could be put in its place. Maybe new achievements that don’t revolve around farming pick up games?
It’s just nice to have “fluff” achievements in general, it’s always nice to have something to chase. Once there’s nothing to “look forward to” the system feels kind of pointless
At a minimum, they should sprinkle in a few new achievements for 500+ simply because there’s literally been nothing new added for 3 expansions now (a timespan of about 6 years)
Time flies. I would imagine if they thought the whole system was healthy enough to create more carrots, they would have been added by now.
For the humble player it’s a cool chase. Once we step into the extreme and most efficient methods of the farming it’s not looking too good.
Some of the highest level players have disclosed the methods used, which could have some reasoning around the apathy shown by Blizz.
I used to be like OP too, and I was like, at honor level 250 and was begging for rewards above level 500, now that I am like 2 levels away from 500, I get it now.
Degenerates ruin the rewards. I heard there was a time in WoD when you could get like a level every 10 mins or something ridiculous like that.
I am what you would call the “humble player” I do random BGs and that’s about it, except lately I have tried to do solo shuffle so that I can get the vault reward, but I HATE doing solo, esp as AF lock.
I just want to do randoms, and have fun.
Sucks that some ppl ruin it for the rest of us.
Also, this is my original lock and achives, if you doubt me. lol.
Not even that “extreme” tbh, “extreme” is something like Charming being like 1900… although to be fair that dude plays basically every single day from dawn til dusk
Really does seem like most of the players you see on the scoreboard nowadays are 300+ assuming they’ve been playing regularly and haven’t had any significant lapses/unsub periods
Players who unsubbed or took breaks are the exception, but it’s probably safe to say that if you haven’t taken any breaks/played every expansion consistently you are probably 300+ at this point (just due to PvPing regularly)
Maybe anecdotal, but it seems a decent chunk of the players in an epic BG are already 500+ (when just taking quick glances at the scoreboard). If I had to guess-timate, it seems like anywhere from 1/4 to 1/3 of the names on the scoreboard are 400+ players
I hit 500 several years ago. So yeah, it would be nice if there were some new stuff added in the 500+ range, even if it’s something fluff-y like a title or something collect-y like a transmog or battle pet. Just something, anything would be nice
They regularly slap together random new achievements for faaar more obscure content than battlegrounds, I don’t see why they can’t slap together a few new achievements or rewards for casual PvP for the next expac
I like that idea. I kind of understand why blizzard didn’t to beyond lvl 500 / 250,000 HKs. In the ol’ vanilla days, I remember a few players would be on for 20 hours at a time farming for High Warlord/ Grand Marshall.
Blizzard has seen high HK rewards promoting degenerate behavior in players. In epic bgs, premade raids gy farmed pugs for hours on end. In wPvP, two raids would take turns AOEing each other down. Any prestige from obtaining the HK titles was ruined.
If Blizzard adds any cool rewards for high honor levels, you’ll see players finding ways (likely degenerate ways) to farm honor as quickly as possible.
Unfortunately, some people would engage in poor behavior to obtain such rewards as easily and quickly as possible to the detriment of all the other PvPers.
They introduced the honor level system in Legion and it had a prestige system like CoD where you could go back to lvl 1 but gain the next prestige rank but you lost all the pvp talents and had to play at a disadvantage before unlocking those talents again. A lot of players like me pushed hard and were rushing to get those prestige ranks while others capped themselves at the max honor level and just played with the pvp abilities. When Blizzard changed the system to what we have today they granted the people who had those high prestige ranks a ton of honor levels. It was much easier to push in Legion than it is now. Feels like honor levels take forever now.
