The problem with Raid Content

No you have not, you’ve killed a nerfed version of the last boss of the tier, once, on “medium” difficulty, after outgearing the fight. This also means that you’re now have a chance to get a Sylvanas item in the weekly vault each week even if you don’t kill Sylvanas ever again. I agree that loot agency is terrible, but you’re expecting a bit too much for too little. The game has never handed out anything for killing a boss just once in 5 months.

What keeps people going back to world bosses?

  • Anima

  • Mounts

  • Toys

  • Pets

  • Transmog

  • Currencies used to purchase all of the above

  • Better gear to be able to clear current content for all of the above things

Go from there.

The raids don’t have to be hard or difficult to get into or find groups for. They just have to keep players coming back for more.

They can be really easy bosses and easy to queue up for, AND keep dropping useful and rewarding stuff so players keep coming back for more.

Some of the hassles of the current system:

  • Finding a good guild
  • Climbing the ranks in guilds and sucking up to get a raid spot
  • Compromising your own schedule to adjust to everyone else’s raid schedule
  • Missing out if you miss a raid
  • Tempers flaring and people being impatient or clashing when someone makes a mistake or doesn’t know something in a raid
  • Grinding… grinding… grinding before you are raid-ready
  • No instant teleportation options unless you have a warlock or the group summons you
  • Poor rewards / RNG

What could be done to improve raids:

  • Content that is more easy to get into and form groups for
  • Better, faster and more efficient mobility options, insta-ports, insta-queues (like the green group finder button for world bosses and events)
  • Faster loading screens
  • A focus on repeat rewards that keep players coming back and is easy to get into and queue up for rather than a grind-y, hard to navigate one

How about no and we are all entitled to our opinions and perspectives?

Yes you have the opinion of someone that doesn’t have a clue about what they are talking about.

It’s ok though I’m used to it.

Looking at your post history. You have nothing constructive to offer and go around putting others and their ideas down.

This is as petty as saying that quests have too much text to read and they are trying to pad the MAU that way as well. Power progression is a design that has been around since the dawn of this genre.

I have plenty of constructive criticism for posts that warrant it.

You wanting free travel ports and struggling to find a guild aren’t posts that warrant it.

The multiple problems of raiding:

  1. Sure, the rewards. Kill a boss, but didn’t get the loot drop? All you typically get is a pittance of gold. A way to eventually get what you want would go a long way. Maybe some kind of currency, perhaps? We could call it Val… or maybe Ice. Just Ice.

  2. RNG fight designs. There’s always going to be some RNG, sure. But WoW loves designing around all forms of RNG, and fights suffer a lot dir it.

  3. Trash. It’s called trash for a reason. It’s fine if the trash is like a mini boss that is subtly teaching mechanics for the upcoming boss, but… WoW has a strange fascination of throwing in dozens of random mobs that we just group up and AoE down, no worse for wear. Boring.

WoD was the last expansion where raiding was in its prime.

Starting with Legion, Blizzard has just been crapping on progression raiders left and right.

  • Tuning the raids so that M+ is required to progress (this started with Nighthold after they saw how everyone steamrolled Emerald Nightmare with M+ gear).
  • Wrecking guilds by removing repair fund options (which they promised to replace but never did), removing tools for running our own raids (loot options), breaking the guild interface, etc.
  • Skips that aren’t really skips. WoD had actual skips like BRF and HFC, nowadays it’s “kill a bunch of bosses to -ahem- skip”.
  • Loot nerfed 40% in Shadowlands. WTF were they thinking?
  • Last bosses on Mythic are now spreadsheet bosses where everything has to be mapped out to the tiniest detail. (Ghuun, Azshara, Nzoth, Denathrius, Sylvanas)
  • Great Vault - did anyone who raids even look at this, at Blizzard? (Does anyone at Blizzard even raid, anymore…?)
  • Last boss fights are too long. Sylvanas is the worst offender ever, here, at 15 minutes of boring slog. Denathrius was hard but was only a 10-minute fight. Sylvanas is like taking Denathrius and then adding Sludgefist to him as Phase 1.

I’m so very, very tired of this

and this. just… stop. stop the 15 minute fights. it’s exhausting trying to prog through them.

If you weren’t so fail you could get it done in 10, maybe 5. Why you so so fail? :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

I assume you’re joking? The fight probably has 5 mins of RP.

Oh, most certainly. Probably badly but hey, every now and then you dig up some rocks. Can’t all be gems.

Do you talk about that problem?

You do not know how it is so forgotten, and difficult to do a Castle Nathria LFG in any difficulty this days.

Lately after 8.1 the raids contained in each expansion (only in BfA and Shadowlands) are not being treated well lately, both by the community and the company itself, especially Ion and I hate Random items such as iLvl’s titan forge items.

Yeah. I get that. And to be fair I’ve played this game for 15+ years. And Everquest (which is even more of a gear grind) for 7+ years before that. I don’t expect drops from every boss I kill. My point is that Sylvanas felt more unrewarding than any boss kill in that 20+ year period. It kind of strayed into the territory of “Why Am I Even Bothering?”

Yeah. I think at this point I’ve acknowledged that I mispoke myself about it being the final expansion boss. I’m well aware of what killing a boss on progression means. I know what “on farm” means. I get it okay?

Maybe in the future if you want to throw shade you can do it on a toon that’s actually done anything at all in the game? I’m going to give you the benefit of the doubt and assume you have another character or account that you raid on? It’s pretty easy to talk trash behind a veil of total anonymity. If Sylvanas had been nerfed? I didn’t know. I don’t spend all my off hours refreshing MMO-Champion. Yes it’s Medium difficulty, if my guild decided to push mythic I wouldn’t bat an eye. I’ve done it before. Overgeared? I’m currently wearing a mix of heroic SoD and M+ gear with a rank 6 legendary that I ground out the mats to make myself. If you think I’m going to feel guilty about that or that that’s in any way different from what any other heroic player is most likely wearing for their Sylvanas progression kill I would call you delusional.
