The problem with pvp socket acquisition

negligable? i thought there was 6, not 9.

does that mean people will run around taking 45% less damage when CC’d? or am I thinking of another gem?

there is basically no information regarding this

Another thing to mention is that you can RNG sockets & bloodstones from the end of match rewards for rated content. Droprate still tbd on that, though.

The meta gem your thinking about is limited to 1 per toon socketed. Also yes there are 9 sockets per character now.

where can I find all the gems/sockets? what are the other ones?

Sockets and the general gear grind is really unappealing to me. I’ll never understand the insistence on having a gear grind in pvp in any game. Falling behind and being at a gear disadvantage in a competitive mode is pretty annoying. The thought of trying to keep multiple classes geared makes me debate not even staying with the game.

Vendor has it for 5k honor + 2 bloodstones. Did they nerf it?

They did. At this point I don’t think there’s any problem at all with socket acquisition

This is a huge problem in my opinion. As someone who loves playing multiple alts in pvp, this expansion is not alt friendly at all. In fact, it’s not even main friendly, when you consider the amount of gold tokens you have to buy (or farm), and the amount of honor that is necessary to fully gear 1 toon. When you start to calculate how much gold, honor, time, and real-world money it can take to gear 1 toon, it seems outrageous to me.
Calculate all the jewel sockets, jewels, and enchants at the highest levels that the top players will have, and you will see the high costs. Then add to that, the high amounts of required honor and time, and you will quickly see this is not alt friendly at all, which is very unfortunate. Most people aren’t twitch streamers that can do this full time!

Personally, I’m hoping honor gear without top jewels, enchants, and whatever else is enough to allow us to keep up with top geared players because that is the only way I can see making this game work for me. I’ll be going into rated and non-rated content this way, and I’m sure many others will, especially when it comes to alts. Those of us who do this, will likely get flamed and ridiculed in rated content for being mostly honor geared, but we can politely remind them that playing rated content is the fastest way to get epic pvp gear. And when they flame us for not being as geared as them, remind them that you have alts to gear and want to do it the fastest way. And if being mostly honor geared does make a large difference and hold back your rating a lot, then ask them why they are at a lower rating fighting you when their gear is so good. I like alts and this is the only way I can see making it work for me.

I think its 12500 last I checked altogether

Still kinda too steep

I haven’t gotten a single blood crystal from a box or war supply crate loot.

if I knew they were selling for 15k ea. I’d just have gotten the gold.

The loud obnoxious minority swears we have to have a gear treadmill to keep PvP involvement going.

And have literally no external check or voice on themselves playing in their own echo chambers that things are ‘fine’.

Streamers have released multiple gearing videos now, 15+ minutes long, and I scroll the comments section 100+ after just one day people complaining as I, so many sources of gearing. And how expensive crafting can get.

But people are gonna say this is ‘best it’s ever been’ against the 10ish years we had just vendors, conquest, and automatic tier pieces YOU COULD PICK STATS FOR.

That is the problem! That 15k you have saved up across your characters won’t go very far when it comes to fully gearing one character. Even if you meant that you have 15k x 5 = 75k honor, that won’t get you very far either! It’s even worse than that when you consider the 20% tax from sending honor to other characters. And if you like alts, good luck! I wish they really would make an alt-friendly expansion! The amount of gold, honor, time, and real-world money it can take to gear 1 character, just for pvp, is insane.

Go add it all up and you will see!

In the current state of the game, I’m not fully gearing any character because I like alts too much and the cost is way too high to fully gear 1 character. I would have to give up my alts and put too many resources into 1 character. I’m honor gearing my characters and getting conquest/epic gear when I can, and that is it. I’ll buy come cheaper enchants as well. I can only hope that is enough to keep up in rated content and enough to give me the joy out of playing this game that I am looking for.

yeah this problem solved when honor gear is 95% as good as conquest gear like back in WoD

You could not feel completely out-powered by just having the 6 hour gear.

I had maybe 6-7 alts in some mix of honor blues and epic purples cause i was 430k hp vs 440k hp people.

Hmm? It takes no time to be competitive on a new char right now.

I’ve done the math. I have about 30-40k more honor than what I previously had. And my char has all stuff for the sockets it needs. I’m set for my main.

Was not hard but time consuming.

There’s gonna be a ton of r 1s this season without 9 sockets

200 secondary stats right now is less than 1%

The uproar over these sockets is quite curious - the gains really are just so trivial.

Hell, most all of the longtime “regular” posters on these forums, along with the ton of r1s you referenced, could be playing in full honor greens (or crap even last seasons conq gear), while I’m playing in full bis pvp gear fully socketed with the best gems enchants and embellishments available and Im still probably gonna get rolled. And it ain’t no mystery why…

  • Game knowledge
  • Practice, repetition (experience)
  • A sincere desire to honestly evaluate one’s play (and mistakes) to improve
  • An ability to take constructive criticism
  • Discussing optimal play and strats with other successful players
  • Asking for help (GASP)
  • etc

All of these things are entirely more valuable than a few extea sockets, or a piece or two of imba gear, or playing an imba s+++ fotm spec. I don’t do any of the good habits I listed above, and am well aware of such. Which also means I’ll probably remain a Challenger2 / Rival1 player until I care enough to adopt said good habits. Thus I don’t complain about “being held back” or “gatekept by the elites” or w/e the current buzz phrases all these voluntary victims complain about.

It’s just so obnoxious how these forums have become so infested with so many bad-to-average players (like myself) who are unwilling to even consider the plethora of logical reasosns behind their lack of success (unlike myself).

Yeah, it’s roughly 40-50k gold per socket which sims at 0.15% to 0.2% increased output. :dracthyr_blob_dance_animated:

That is a cool way to dump your honor instead of useless boxes we had previously. They even made these wpvp 500honor consumables bad this time.
