The Problem with gearscore

Just did Toravon VOA on my pally as tank 26k unbuffed HP’s.

Still have some blues one…granted one is the jc dodge trinket with more dodge gems in them.

I never downloaded a gearscore or ilvl addon this go around because frankly I know the content by heart. I know what I need to do when…

Had 6 different people come in and say omg his gear and left.

The irony the second tank they got had 36k unbuffed…way way way better geared than me…takes more damage than with less stacks died on a three stack ardent defender proced on a two stack…I had a six stack and my ardent never proced

Point is judge a person for stacking stam and not defense skills…we had the same amount of activity during the fight and I held aggro better…he lost it three times to DPS. I didn’t lose it once. I didn’t die. I didn’t even need ardent defender…

Just because your gearscore is higher as a tank doesn’t mean they know how to tank…

I totally agree with you on the gear score numbers. GS does not & I repeat DOES NOT gauge you as a great player. Having such a high number may indicate you’ve been carried? Obviously that does not apply to everyone. There are those out there who have worked to obtain a good score. For those who always question a player’s score just remember, never judge a book by it’s cover.

Gearscore is mearly an indication of the content that player has done nothing more, nothing less.

Gearscore is something people can quickly use as a glance, it’s why it’s used. Someone that has better gearscore has a higher potential just because of his stats and that it shows that he did content before.

Back in the day with mop proving grounds and in WoD you could see if someone had gotten bronze, silver or gold and proving grounds have been a better show of skills than most content in wow (as they were scaled and required you to be able to manage a diverse amount of mechanics). I would gladly prioritize someone that did gold proving grounds over others.

Retail has raider io which goes a bit further than gearscore but no system is perfect, it comes to what people care.

Personally, having a low geared tank will just make the content unfun as I will rip aggro even if youre the best tank ever with blue gear you will have no chances.

But yea in WoD they required silver proving ground just to be able to queue for heroic dungeons and that has been the greatest time I had with a queue system but people didn’t like that because they didn’t know how to play their class and couldn’t do it.

Bosses don’t care about your personal feelings.
They will either one shot you or they won’t.

Your ignorance only makes everyone else’s lives around you harder. I’d leave the group as well if I saw a 3.5k tank that would simply get 1 shot and wipe the group. You just want to get free carry and you are trying to justify it.

Grow up.

This has nothing to do with you. Your health is a resource that healers manage. It’s not like you can move your character to actually dodge a weapon swing or something else to mitigate damage. You just stand there and try and hold threat.

You’re only “defensive” buttons are holy shield for more block chance and your 50% reduced damage bubble.

So if anything, the healers saw your gear and over healed you and were complacent with the other tank. This was their failing, not your co-tank.

Well that doesn’t make any sense. If you had such great threat, then when he taunted off of you, he would have copied your current threat plus 10%. And unless you dropped tank stance, you would have over taken him first, not a DPS. Also, if you tanked first, maybe you got the misdirects/tricks of the trade.

dont know why you had the urge to post obvious stuff but sure man

How am I looking for a carry? When I put perform the better geared?

Sure.

We don’t always have or use systems because they have 0 faults, but oftentimes it’s because they work better than not using them.

If you join a raid with blue gear, that is really meant for somewhat geared folks, yes, you’re looking for a carry.

You are the reason LFR needs to exist…

For all difficulties of raiding.

???
OP is the reason LFR needs to exist.

You are when you suggest VoA is a raid that requires you to be geared.

I know what you meant in context… You’re referring to the frost boss…

But then again…

That’s the common PvE culture. PPL only do the frost boss and leave. I have not seen a full VoA clear happen since the wind boss was active.

Indeed. We are talking about frost boss.

OP shows up in blues, so i’d eye ball like 4k GS at best, and expects people to be fine with it, completely ignoring the fact that he will be the cause of a wipe when he gets 1 shot.

You said raid though. OP is perfectly geared for the other bosses.

I had to clear up the context for you.

Was that an oversight?

9 times out of 10 the reverse would have been true (assuming this is true)

Gear Score is indeed a crude metric but we don’t have time for you to convince us you are superior to your gear.

The average Joe isn’t, I don’t blame those who left

He may be geared enough for the stone one. The Tier 7 one. Maybe even Tier 8 one…tho ads would demolish him in blue gear.

But in context of Frost boss, as no one does other bosses (maybe fire in 1/100 runs)

So he joins Frost run in sub 4k gs and complaints about people not being happy with it.
And like I said before, bosses don’t care about your personal feelings. They will 1 shot you.
