The problem with crafting orders

There’s not enough people submitting crafting orders, I check multiple times a day and the most I’ve ever seen are like 10 at a time and they’re all for items that require like renown 18-19 to unlock, I’ve only managed to get 5 done so far and they were all for epic weapons and we’re only like 1-2k each. I’m on thrall so it’s not like I’m on a low pop server with this issue. There should be some npc crafting orders that we can only do like 10 a week so that we can atleast complete the quests. It’s not like blacksmithing is a gold machine anyways I get more gold from selling the mining materials than I do from crafted gear.

I wasted the entire evening trying to find someone to upgrade my breastplate & cloak through recrafting orders

… you’re not allowed to enlist randoms for recrafting orders apparently

You gotta sit in / 2 chat spamming in hopes that someone is the right specialization & skill lvl

This isn’t really a direct response to what OP said, just chiming in more things that sucks about it

The whole crafting order thing is too wordy for us luddites who don’t like to read.

The professions are very hard to level right now due to renown recipes and weekly knowledge. Plus consortium rep.

Most are stuck in the 60 -70 range. It might be that your items couldn’t be made any better by someone with only 70 skill.

I don’t like the crafting order menu, way too convoluted, along with the professions menus. It is taking forever to level professions.

Most people don’t have recipes.

Like I saw someone do a crafting order for a leatherworking recipe that drops in Vault. Like dude, no one can do that until next week at the earliest.

There are some weird problems with this system as a whole. All the “recrafting” stuff, the amount of soulbound things you can only get by crafting or getting someone to craft for you and the eventual downfall of most of it since drops from raids and high m+ will eventually outclass all crafted equipment (yeah, there are ways around it and the developers surely thought about some, but damn, this thing can feel overly complicated
and time consuming) will get so much hate from players. THAT should have been antecipated. There’s always a crazy amount of hate for even mildly complicated and way too time consuming stuff (I’m not such a hypocrite, I assume I’m part of the hate mob). By the way, anyone knows why my achievement points are not updating on the forum anymore? Not really a problem but I’d like to show off a bit

People are reading way too much into work orders.

Blizzard wants to make crafting relevant for high-end content. They tried it with crafted legendaries in Shadowlands, but of course people complained.

The ENTIRE PURPOSE of the crafting order system is for M+/Raid players to take their Bind-on-Pickup materials they got from doing content, and have it crafted into gear for them without them having to have the profession themselves.

It’s Blizzard’s answer to the puzzle: How do we drop bind-on-pickup crafting mats for people and still have them useful even if they don’t have the profession?

That’s it.

That’s why crafting orders exist. Most of it will be personal work orders or within-guild (that’s why there’s a Guild option for them).

the number of submissions will go up as players stop leveling blacksmithing.

It just feels overwhelming. So many input variables. There seems to be a single haste/mastery ring, so I have to deal with the crafting beast eventually. :scream:

the system being a high demand for orders is good. the system having unanswered orders would be worse.

It isn’t hard, it is just very grindy.

When players realize this, riot

That’s entirely the point. People are almost always going to be putting in work orders for high end BoP gear. If it’s simple and BoE it will be on the auction house.

And that seems like a perfectly generous commission to me. It’s the buyer’s mats. You just click a few buttons and get some skill points. Any gold you get is just gravy.

its been less than two weeks, it’ll pick up fast. 34 slot bags are still super rare, 15k gold still.

This was one of the biggest criticisms players had of MoP and they brought it back again. It’s so silly.

I think it’ll sort itself out in a month or so.

It’s not.

I get what you mean it’s free it doesn’t cost time or resources so it’s a free 1k.

Yeah but that item sells for way more in the ah, it doesn’t matter that the crafter will use their mats it would still be more profitable to refuse those order and force people to buy on the ah.

1k is just not enough to do anything in game and thinking that’s a good tip is laughable

It needs to be cross server.
