Giving on use walls to pets or separate Pet CC trinkets other than generic “Anti-root” would go a long way to active pet management. While they’re at it they should just give us Monkey stun and crab root back. This would make BM a much more interesting spec than just pressing Kill Command as the pet ability.
Yea I think you’re onto something, I agree giving pets Walls and active mitigation would absolutely be a solid step in the right direction. Sure you can kick pet rez again but pets should have as much Vers stat and Health as the Hunter as well as separate walls for active mitigation if we want to go that route.
This way Cleave damage would feel like the pet has higher passive defense as a plate wearer (give the pets Armor values of Mail + whatever it takes to equal full conquest Plate gear) and when you wall the pet it would probably never die. This is good stuff.
Ok I’m taking notes to talk to Blizzard about:
- Give pets separate wall abilities to mitigate damage
- Give pets equal Versatility stat and Health as the Hunter in PvP
- Give pets equal or greater Armor value than the Hunter in PvP
- Give pets active abilities like Monkey Stun and Crab rooting (Like back in good ol Cata and Wrath)
- Make pet rez kickable again
- And we’ll just add this in here because this was the experience all through DF S1 and S2, Mend Pet should heal just as much as it does right now since Healers don’t heal Pets anymore.
Yea this was a solid discussion.
So you’d have to make a choice between having MS and playing smart or your pet not dying to cleave but no MS which is more auto pilot. Hmmm. Interesting.
I’m like 99% sure your pet scales with your secondaries in PvP. And BM hunter absolutely should get something like huddle for DK ghoul.
Weird response, if it’s inheriting your secondaries why does it also need to be plate armour values? No.
“Ermmm al your points are actually illogical and emotional but mine are all salient, cogent, and coherent. You’re literally the soyjack.”
You go around calling everyone who disagrees with you and wants drastic changes to the miserable AI pet spec “emotional”, but then give responses like this. Lmao.
Anyways, BM in its current design should be unplayable. Thanks for coming to my TEDx talk.
there’s some interesting thoughts defending bm here, specifically about other specs being good too.
problem is BM hunter takes a racing wheel to master, while the others take some type of skill and not jumping up and down going hurr durr
one of the defenders here is a clicker. imagine
Wild Kingdom.
They don’t, that’s why they added the anti-cleave modifier…that’s why pets were exploding in DF S1 to opening cleave damage faster than any player would.
It doesn’t, pets do not get Vers values. Next.
Hence nerfing Black Arrow damage/proc rate. Again Next.
I was mocking your emotional outburst about killing off a spec because it’s overtuned on damage by taking away the ability to participate in PvP instead of simply tuning the damage.
“Hurdur BM Damage is too high…nerf pet Rez”…very logical. Next.
Again emotional outburst leads to negative and emotional decisions. I feel for you, I really do. It hurts my heart to see you suggesting braindead ideas like this because you’re overcome with grief but I’m just trying to bring you back to the World of Warcraft reality. /Done
This is in response to the hypothetical wherein the pets would recieve your secondaries, they don’t also need plate armour. This shouldn’t have been that hard to connect considering I’m quoting where you wrote the point initially.
A for effort though.
Black Arrow is only the NEWEST issue that BM is fronting. People don’t like fighting the base design of the class and haven’t for years due to the AI nature of it’s damage.
Yes, nerf black arrow. It’s over performing, but also make their pets require some input beyond a drinking bird amount of effort on kill command/barbed shot.
Pretending the spec isn’t toxic outside of that is disingenuous. People haven’t liked fighting BM when it’s tuned up because the core of the spec is stupid.
Nice hyperbole. Emotional over response from a biased author claiming absolute death of a spec because you can’t press 2 buttons to succeed any more. I’m sorry myself, an apparently others, want more player input into pet damage instead of just your garage door opener spec.
btw someone disagreeing with you isn’t an emotional outburst, you should probably stop watching Ben Shaprio debate tips.
Lower the cast time but make it kickable.
Then, like literally every other ranged in the game that’s not hunter, you’ll have to learn a brand new skill most players have to - how to juke. Crazy, right? I know, you’d have to have more thought into your character than just KC/BS while jumping out in the open and your zoo mindlessly runs over someone.
Sorry I already prekicked you on being a condescending dipstick who wants to maintain his two button brain dead rotation, but thanks for playing!
The reality that your kit is overtly simple, you have no way of punishing BM when it’s tuned up because your kit is so brainless it literally only functions around like 2 abilities being able to hit hard?
Yeah my bad man.
We get it, you don’t want your spec meaningfully changed so it may be harder to play (and therefore more rewarding than being a mobile game effectively).
Yoh dont direct me anymore. Your literally a survival only lover. Your opinion will always be biased. I tried to like you but honestly dont need your biased opinion linking me all the time.
Realistically killable.
See, in early Dragonflight Hunter pets were being killed too easily by ambient cleave and Blizzard doesn’t have a way to tune that like they do with aoes despite them behaving simialrly, so they buffed pet healing and eventually made the rez unkickable.
Pets being decent opportunistic targets to force hots/globals or defensive play with good swaps was cool. Hunter mispositioning or mismanaging pet and getting it killed was cool.
Obviously perma train the pet until the hunter just dies because they can’t play was bad but it didn’t generally reach that point.

It sort of did, people bursting pets right after the gates opened was a thing.
Anyway, waiting on the next fotm class to pop so people can complain about something else.
It sort of did, people bursting pets right after the gates opened was a thing.
Mend Pet, Exhil, whatever external support from the healer and in dire cases Wild Kingdom.
It didn’t matter mend/exhil wasn’t enough. Most healers don’t heal pets either period.
It was definitely a problem and tbh the pets shouldn’t be killable anyway if they remove core functions from the spec. It’s not the same as disarm etc. Would be like saying I broke your sword now you have to build it again before you can attack me but I can interrupt it and lolgg @ you while you try it.
but back to post…demo and bm shouldn’t be pvp specs change my mind. nerf bm so I can stop watching somebody jump up and down across the map with no idea what’s going on
Just embarrassing.
That’s for sure.
I broke your sword now you have to build it again
I heard there were pills for that
na what they should do is make it so you can only have access to 3 pets in an arena and once one is dead you have to summon the next one and then the last one. no rezing of same pet but put a short cast on the pet summon. then so if you decide you want to kill pets all game you can take that route but if u don’t wanna be a raider then u can kill the hunter but if u do kill all 3 hunter pets, the hunter has access to lone wolf so no more sac but 20% more dmg, BUT HAS NO PET AS BM LOL. OMG i should balance the game
It doesn’t help that pets have like 3mil HP compared to the Hunters 7.3mil. Just doesn’t make sense why pets don’t just match Hunter stam like they used too.
It didn’t matter mend/exhil wasn’t enough. Most healers don’t heal pets either period.
Yup we all learned this in DF, Healers literally don’t look at pets to heal when damage is coming out in massive cleave elsewhere on actual players. Can’t ever rely on a healer to keep a pet alive.
the hunter has access to lone wolf so no more sac but 20% more dmg, BUT HAS NO PET AS BM LOL. OMG i should balance the game
You sure you want that with Black Arrow right now already proccing for 1mil damage and Barbed Shot DoTs ticking for 240k?
Hey, the sentinel “dont look back” talente is not capping 10% health shield to me, is it bugged ?
