What person or person are the Prime Evil of WoW?
Lore wise, I would say the Void. Which is funny, since we’ve Void Elfs now. The void consumes all, why Sargares was on his burn it all schtick. Destroy all life before the void consumes it and grows.
After Void Elves? Who knows! I mean, if they tamed the void… what else left is there?
Those damn religious types trying to keep me sober. I pass out on the steps to the cathedral ONE TIME and you’d think Sagaras himself was taking a tinkle in the holy water plate. Incidentally don’t use the holy water plate till they clean it. Just say’n…hic!

it’s either nomi or pepe, i’m not sure which
Ok, yes, this is very true. They are the cancer of WoW, while being the most awesome thing at the same time.
The prime evil was likely sargeras to me. The jailer, is Malthael. Ion is greater rift 200
I’ve wanted to play one since before I started playing WoW just watching my friends play
WE ARE. We do what the quest givers tell us, no matter how messed up it is. We do anything for power (i.e. higher ilvl gear) or for gold.
Do you mean prime evil such as in diablo? It would have to be the old gods.

Blizzard has, essentially, painted every corner of the cosmos with a grey brush. Yet they still try to have ideas of “sin” and “penance” in the Shadowlands, so who even knows what the source is of good and evil when nothing has been shown to be truly good or evil (as an ultimate source).
One thing that stands out to me is that EVERYTHING has its eyes on Azeroth. Whatever is going to hatch out of our planet must be the most powerful/important thing in the universe.
An almost good analogy. The problem is Malthael was a way cooler villain than the Prime Evil (it was executed poorly and conceptually contrived too), and Sargeras is way cooler than the Jailer.
Otherwise? Spot on.
There isn’t really “a” Prime Evil of Warcraft lore. Blizzard has a problem with escalating issues to make the world still feel engaging. Every time they step up the ladder, they tackle the “next” biggest bad. If you go back far enough you’ll sort of see that Demons were set up to be the absolute worst of the worst.
They spent a lot of time cultivating Arthas’ story, but he was a product of demonic manipulation himself. He, at least, had some misguided series of beliefs that directed him, though. Demons were treated as sort of working towards the undoing of everything just because.
You could say the Jailer is currently “the Prime Evil” but we’ve established that Light and Void are beyond even Death. We’ve also seen Blizzard touching territory where the Light is capable of atrocities just like anyone else. This was true even in Vanilla, with the whole Scarlet Monastery, but it was more a fuel of faith than a “source might truly be neutral.”
Personally I think they’re choice to go down the road of having no absolute right and wrong is a bit of a folly. On the surface it makes it gritty, because no story is right or wrong just because of universal objective yard sticks. Dig a little deeper and I think you’ll find that some of the best fantasies in video games tend to be bucking against the greater evil, good winning in the end, and all that. You can avoid it, but you’ve lost access to a powerful set of tropes.
none, the concept of good and evil comes from mortals, cosmic forces do what they do because they are the way they are, mortals assign labels to it, the light is not all “good” the void is not all “evil” and so on with everything. Anything that wants to put our world, survival, liverty, etc. at risk is “evil”.
Toxic players
I doubt that there’s ever a static prime evil in WoW. Seemingly they all start that path and along the way, they change due to our intervention or some sort of an event. This cycles through all of the main characters, seemingly.
I agree!
I think because the prime evil was also literally the namesake of the game is why i ascribed more coolness to it than it conceptually deserved lol
You got it spot on there. The Legion was the ever-looming threat since pretty much WC2. They were responsible for the Shattering, the Orcish invasion, the Scourge, and influenced other events over the course of history, too. Sargeras himself was basically the biggest bad you could imagine, with only one being in existence, Broxigar with an axe blessed by Cenarius, to have ever landed a blow on him - and it was a tiny scratch.
There was always the problem of how do we deal with something like that, but to have never even gotten the opportunity to face off against him, even if we only ever drop him to 90% hp before the magic mcguffin plot device saves us, feels like a huge wasted opportunity. I honestly hope we haven’t seen the last of him or of the demonic legions he commanded.
Worse still, now we’re expected to believe that Sargeras was essentially manipulated (don’t tell me he had no say in Kiljaedans plans) by the Jailer.
first it was Ghostcrawler the Original sinner
then Kalgan the Dark Warrior
then Holinka the AshranMaker
now i think is ION the ShamanBuffer?
I’d venture to guess we haven’t. With the introduction of the “First Ones” as a concept, and the notion that the Jailer’s conspiracy seems to be rather wide (reference to ancient allies of some sort), we’ll see what they come up with.
