JUST Got the 20k mount and getting it on one faction rewards the mount for the other faction, so its buy 1 get 1 free, but still, 20k is a bit much, now for the pets, I’ll do those next week, I need to mentally recover after this grind.
what are we even supposed to do? I went through the portal and nothing is happening.
Every 90 minutes the event occurs in one of the three zones. They rotate around; wowhead has a timer for them so you always know which is next and how long until it starts. It lasts about 10-15 minutes depending on lag. You kill a mini-boss, then everyone splits out to accomplish 6 tasks. Sometimes, if you are lucky, you can participate in multiple tasks, earning extra currency for each one. Once all 6 are done, the main boss spawns with about 30 seconds immunity, so you fly back over and wait to attack. Then the event is over. You can stick around to kill trash, but it’s not really worth it.
There is a weekly quest for each of the 3 zones that rewards 1500 currency, and killing the main boss rewards 500. Each mini boss is I think 25, and each task (if you participate) is 100. Trash is 1-10ish, depending on the mob.
The weekly quest is per character, so if you have multiple characters, definitely go ahead and run them all through to get extra currency, otherwise getting rewards will be nigh impossible.

Aren’t you enjoying the pre-patch event?
The event only happens right now every 90 minutes. And is done within 10 minutes. And if you come after that, you’re relegated to either
- Going away from the event zone and doing something else even though you want to partake in the pre-patch event.
or
- Farming mobs that only give you 1 currency per kill. Btw you kill around 320k currency to get everything the event offers.
Yea I think I’ll wait for them to hotfix it before I waste my time.

I’m not sure there’s enough time in the day to do that. I’m only available in the evening hours and if it’s only once every hour and a half… that limits how many alts I can run through.
I just did it on 3 separate toons and collected all the winnings on one toon, totaling a 1 1/2 day grind for a currency that is the least fun to have ever been farmed.
I can definitely understand that. It sounds like if you buy one mount, the other unlocks for free, so that helps. Check the rewards and figure out what you can’t live without. I’ve decided the mounts and pets are my priority; I’ve got better bags, and if I can get the gear for tmog I will. Oh, the gear can drop during the events. Probably not the mounts/pets, but no idea. I’d just earn what you can and buy when the entire prepatch event is about to end in 3 weeks. There’s also an heirloom that appears to be easy to get.
Also, I am skeptical of using the Silithus teleport scroll they give us on the intro quest. I don’t think you actually have to do it on each character, but if you want to, you may want to manually run to Silithus (use the portal to Caverns of Time in Tanaris). On my 3rd character, I got stuck in a loop of falling out of the world. A character unstuck using the website service did NOT fix it. I had to submit a ticket and get it ported back to Orgrimmar.

I hope the pets are cageable. I’ll just buy them on the ah and save my sanity. this hour and a half thing is bonkers. that way I’d just have to farm the mounts.
There is an unscheduled patch going up on Thu; they took down the blue post announcing the event; I’m hopeful that means they are:
- reducing the time between events to 30 min with all three spawns at once so you can pick and choose the event you need; and
- fixing the sharding so that the lag on the bosses in these three event-zones doesn’t make the game unplayable (as it does for many right now)
My world map showed 20 instances of Remembered Onxiya, which I think is related to the awful lag (the sharding is NOT working as intneded).
Despite the blue post reportedly being taken down, the news article is still up so you can get a feel for what should be happening in the event and what the rewards are.
