The (Potential) Return of The Ashbringer

Hello everyone!
This is just a general discussion of a random thought I had concerning all the void pressence coming in TWW+Midnight.
As we all know, Xal’atath was an entity trapped within one of our Legion artifact weapons. I feel safe in assuming I might not be the only one who likes the idea of seeing more of our old artifact weapons returning, as the ending of Legion felt (in my opinion) lackluster - perhaps bitter - as we were given this plethora of weapons of legend for a singular expansion, only for them to be discarded and essentially worthless at the end.
Anyway, back to the main topic. Returning artifact weapons-
To those who don’t know, The Ashbringer (more specoficially, the gold disc you see on the blade) was originally a void crystal, and had the light cast on it until the crystal consumed enough light to become a light crystal.
I recall there once being some speculation that this crystal was part of a naaru, and if so, could have the same nature as a naaru as it shifts between light and void. There was also it’s corrupted form; that feels like another conversation to tackle, though I’d love to hear everyone’s opinions on the Corrupted Ashbringer.

So we’re about to jump into the big bad void. Wouldn’t it be interesting to see The Ashbringer make some sort of appearance, either as a weapon against the void or converted into a weapon for the void in some way?
Are there any other artifact weapons you could see making an appearance in the future?

If you made it this far - thank you for reading! Sorry I went all over the place there, but I hope it still made sense.

Would be neat! I wish they found a way to keep more of the legion weapons intact. Weapons are a great way for story to pass generationally and still have characters die off without losing all the emotional baggage.

That’s my thoughts exactly on weapons in WoW!
Like Gorehowl. The Hellscreams have all died out now, but for every orc I see holding that axe, I know the legacy lives on lol. Sad to see so many legendary weapons from Legion collect dust in lore

It seems safe to assume that the N’arru are conduits for magic and will take on the aspecta of whatever magic gets funneled into them. Unholy/death magic being the corrupted form, and light being the “true” form of Ashbringer makes me wonder if you couldnt infuse the blade with Fel or even Wild/Druid magic.

I never thought of it that way, but it makes perfect sense honestly. I’m a little too attached to Ashbringer’s story to WANT to see it become a fel weapon - but I have to admit that would be very interesting to see lol
