The Forsaken did not lose an entire zone. Deathknell and the Bulwark were untouched while Shadowglen and Rut’theran Village were destroyed. Lor’danel was also blighted, while the Sepulcher in Silverpine was not touched (and neither Lor’danel nor Auberdine were bothered to be restored for the Darkshore Warfront, unlike Stromgarde).
We also need confirmation on the final state of Astranaar, also unlike Tarren Mill never being touched.
One could argue that the Alliance won Darkshore back so theoretically Lor’danel and/or Auberdine would be rebuilt in lore. And one could argue that because the Alliance won the previously contested Arathi that theoretically the Horde lost Hammerfall. But without confirmation of that, it is not even close to one zone and one capital lost on each side.
I think its a more of a territorial thing … and a Racial Fantasy thing. The NEs nearly solo taking back all their territories … I can somewhat buy; the Forsaken reclaiming any of there territories without sacrificing whats left of their racial fantasy to the sterile, sanitized alter of Calia … that’s a different story. Nothing quite like the mom that went for smokes 15 years ago all of sudden coming back and wanting to be a part their lives. Divine right to rule indeed.
On the territorial front remains both Arathi and Gilneas. If the Gilneans are allowed to reclaim their capital, and one of the last remaining lost Human Kingdoms rebuilt … there is little reason to believe that the Forsaken would be allowed to keep the surrounding territories. Its already pushing things that they might be able to keep Tirsifall Glades with Genn’s contempt for them being there; and Calia being heir to the Throne.
Yeah, but he’s also like the type to try to foist Calia onto the Forsaken out of convenience. She has so many problems as a potential Forsaken leader. Voss does too, but at least she still shares many of their core themes … while Calia spits on them. Calia is a friendly face that makes the Forsaken convenient, and since they will be his neighbors to the north once he gets his city back … I can imagine him jumping on the Calia and Faol bandwagon.
Anduin for new leader of the Forsaken then. I’m tired of this played out narrative of Humans hating Undead. It’s as outdated as the Night Elf ban on magic was.
most ppl here like to keep contained in the faction vs faction plot… serious get over it, blizzard will do what they will do with the factions we KNOW that the faction war is not over and probably will never be, maps will keep shifting to one another like it or not.
alas here is my take on what I would want to see updated.
Neutral content:
Silithus and the sword, I would like to see a conclusion to Magni quest and azeroth to begin to heal and the we embark onto a new quest to REMOVE the sword and keep the titan side quest chain relevant, maybe even leading into a new dungeon in Nzoth old facility.
Dragonblight and the Dragon flights, I would like to see a continuation of chromie quest and for us to look who demanded her dead, and how it was powerful enough to enlist the aid of fel, void, arcane and death.
Battle for Mount Hyjal 3.0: I want to see an updated Hyjal with newest tech so we can have a proper world tree and the well in all its glory, while keeping it relavant as a quest hub, but not as a leveling zone but a max level questing zone aka to Suramar.
Alliance:
Stromgarde as Gilneas new capital, both ppl are depleted and make a joint front to repopulate the Northerner zones where the alliance hold little power, the quests there can be related to the effort and deal with cultists, horde struggle in the area, rogue Sylvanas loyalists and the house of nobles of stormwind trying to stop the new kingdom to thrive, so they would lose the workers that made Stormwind their ‘‘home’’ for so long.
Ashenvale being burned by some mysterious force and finally ending the horde vs alliance problem in the area about lumber, the quests in the horde side would lead into Azshara and how to keep the peace treaty with the alliance, making Gazlowe the central quest giver with some cameos of Oculeth.
while the Alliance side would lead to Felwood and how to restore it to its original form, we would be questing with Shandris and Malfurion( tyrande is far busy doing politics)
Tol’barad is taken and revitalized by the dwarfs and Kul’tirans and they turn it into a fortress to protect the coasts of the alliance, the quests there could deal with Nagas and sirens and how the vacum left by Azshara’s defeat in BFA affect the power balance of the oceans factions.
Horde:
Quel’thalas and Undercity Revitalized, Quel’thalas would deal with the return of Kael’thas and how him would affect the political power, Lor’themar would still be the leader of the blood elves and kael’thas would lead the fallen who returned from the shadowlands to atone for their sins in the burning crusade and wrath of the lich king( I’m talking to you San’lyan!)
Undercity would deal with the vacum left by Sylvanas both in power and spiritually, the forsaken would need to look to themselves cuz the world still hates them, and they now are left without a messias, so now it is the time to stop the rampaging scourge that came down from northrend and the necromancers that reveled in the madness, probably introducing Kel’thuzad back to help the faction or to be their number one foe( taking arthas role).
a new city in the barrens for the Mag’har that after some time now are pursuing their own agenda to help those still in Draenor, and this plot could expand the’’ light is not good ‘’ theme that we need, and in this we could see baine being useful for once and help the mag’har fight against the quil’boar and centaur ppl alike( a founding of durotar 2.0 but with zek’han, baine and the female thrall)
minor considerations:
Gnomeragan being a proper city
Zul’dazar helping the other tribes( to explain the new customizations)
Considering that when the Desolate Council was ruling the Forsaken started doing mass suicide rituals, I wonder if now that Sylvanas’ gone forever they’ll finally take five minutes of self-reflection to realize that maybe, just maybe, being the Scourge lite was a bad idea, and they decide to get outta other people’s way for a while.
From Day One of the game, Ashenvale has been and still is “contested” territory. More of it is Horde property than it used to be… that’s not going to change.
He’s also the guy who said that “Tyrande got her revenge.” if my memory serves me correctly. Did you buy that statement as much? Or are we cherry picking as suits the moment?
I will say that the Alliance got better looking outfits from both.
I think ashen vale was always somewhat contested on the edge but it was mostly alliance/ night elf in vanilla. I think lore wise their have been 3 major horde invasions in pre cata (the wolf heart book) during cata and during the war of thorns pre bfa.
