The point of alts

What’s an alt to you?

Mine are throwaway characters just to farm things or do bgs when I’m bored. I only do rep and wqs on my main. Advancing the story one time is all I can do or it’s super tedious for me. But I do love having a legion of alts to farm something I’m after

My alts filled multiple purposes:

  • Cover all the professions
  • Fill a raid role that my main couldn’t
  • Different persona

Once the collections tab made mounts account wide: They became mount farmers too.

After about Wrath… my alts started dying off. WoD I had 3-4 still breathing, Legion I had 2… BfA… not even my main survived.

I generally only worry abput reps and WQs on my main, alts are generally for farming, bgs, and professions. I haven’t had an alt that I took on raids or anything since Wrath. My SPriest used to go on off night alt runs when my Druid was on lockout.

  • A way to learn more about a class, the do’s and don’ts.

  • A way to have a break from playing one playstyle.

  • Some times it’s just because a race looks cool in their heritage armor

  • Because everyone says the class is fun.

  • To farm things.

to make you go insane with the extremely slow leveling process?

I used to like pve on my hunter and pvp on my UH DK. Feels like we are being even further main locked now with these essences. There’s no way in hell im earning the pvp essence on two toons, getting it beyond rank 1 anyway.
