The Jailer has to be the dumbest villain yet, and there’s a long line of stupid when it comes to WoW antagonists.
Why did he even need to shatter the Helm of Domination in the first place?
Think about it.
Sire Denathrius was cultivating anima.
The Furry Convention and its Queen was getting her face kicked in from two different directions.
Kel’Thuzad was taking Maldraxxas.
The Foresworn were kicking the Arcon’s waifu butt up and down Bastion.
So why would the Jailer, this albino giant, want to throw that all away just for Sylvannas Windrunner?
It can’t be for Anduin because Devos, literally Devos, was kicking the Arcon’s face in until the ‘Maw Walkers’ (another stupid title with no meaning) intervened.
It can’t be for the other three mouth breathers because they did jack squat. Baine’s still mooing in his corner sitting in a puddle of god-knows-what.
It can’t be for Foredragon because he’s a colossal joke to make Sylvannas even more hated.
For the life of me, I can’t find a single reason why the Jailer would want to break the Helm. He was winning. Literally. Winning.
Who cares about keys when everyone is dead (or dead-er? who cares). Seriously, how can people defend such atrocious writing?
Breaking the Helm opened a gateway between Life and Death. It’s already been shown his mawsworn can cross it. When the seals on the Maw go down he and his entire army can do the same. He used Sylvanas to give him a means to invade our reality and claim Azeroth’s titan, which his heralds said is on his to do list. Along with the rest of the universe to follow.
Just out of curiosity, where do people think WoW’s story went wrong? I’m not defending Blizzard, I’m just curious to see what parts people thought were good and when it got to the point where it was really bad.
Blizzard realized the Kyrian plot was so bad, and they were objectively villains. So they butt-pulled out some plot of Devos and the Foresworn working with the Maw and the Jailer, WHICH MAKES NO SENSE.
I honestly hate the Kyrian and wish the Foresworn had taken over without any of this awful “being controlled by the Jailer” nonsense.
Anduin wasn’t just for the archon. I bet he’s a pawn in a much larger game. He knew Devos would fail - but this one? There’s something special. The son of a warrior king, with ties to light, void, arcane ( he’s been in touch with azerite, who KNOWS what residue that stuff gives to you) goodness he’s becoming a regular cosmic med’an.
Your problem is you’re taking the plots at face value.
Like BfA, they real plot there was just Magni casting a mas delusion on us so we would believe a giant sword stabbed the planet and unwittingly run around helping feed his substantial azerite addiction.
Not sure what’s going on here but I suspect the real antagonist is Chromie working out some moth fetish so she’s dressed up as lady moonberry and tries to turn us into moths or staple wings to us every chance she gets.
That these plots may be more plausible could be a problem.
To be fair the Jailer didn’t consider that to be a problem. Even if we followed he assumed we’d just be trapped in the death zone of the Maw.
Zovaal thought that waystone was broken and useless. He had ignored it for ages because it didn’t do anything for him. It didn’t even react to living people either, only our characters specifically. So it’s one of those unpredictable factors you don’t really see coming in any plan.
Perhaps the jailor wanted Devos gone, knowing that her loyalties ultimately lie with herself. She doesn’t want to be a part of some great plan again, she wanted to be her own person. The Jailor may’ve been a means to an end, in that case…and he didn’t want someone that fickle near a power source like the Archon.
With the Maldraxxi, they were searching for anima mainly. The houses turned on each other because of Kel’Thuzad’s deceit - but sooner or later they would’ve realized what was up, and gone after the culprits. Weakened, of course, but they’re still a force to be reckoned with.
Without us, the Jailor may have had a lot more on his hands once everyone figured out his true agenda, and thought maybe one step ahead. Instead, we’ve killed a good chunk of Bastion, destabilized the other two Houses in Maldraxxus, and supported a civil war in Revendreth!!
The shadowlands are even MORE chaotic than they were before we entered.
Edit: I forgot we weren’t supposed to escape the maw apsdgkasdgjaggadsg
Or, you could simply conquer the Shadowlands without involving the living. That’s what he was doing. He was winning already, but then decided ‘I think Aduin would look good as a grandpa’ for some reason.
Don’t see you explaining the plot hole.
Again, point to me where the plot hole doesn’t exist.
