And if they make it sellable for gold on the AH, other folks can have them too. But something tells me there will be no AH inside, but maybe a mailbox outside. They want it comfy, but adding an AH to garrisons meant people never had to leave.
This worked well with Strongholds in SWtOR. I would be ok with this, but would rather have a house per character so I can make a Gnomish house with an elevator, or a Goblin shack with rusted junk for furniture since Goblins are hella cheap.
the part i’m looking forward to most is gatekeeping casuals from visiting my house
You’re correct they ultimately control the supply. But players set the prices on the AH, not Blizzard.
Let’s say there are only 100 household item X made available in a given week, and someone puts theirs on the AH for 500g but the AH cartels buy up all the stock and then relist for 5000g each, making it difficult to the average Joe to get one. In response, devs could increase the availability to 200 per week, the AH cartels could still buy out all the stock and then relist it for 10000g each – this is behavior Blizzard can’t control.
there should be a free starter house for everyone. a small 2 room cottage or something
I feel like the “Apartment” in town will be something you unlock for free, and if you can own more, then you start dipping into gold.
Both. If this is going to be a “back of the box” major feature of the expansion, surely they plan to have more than one house available to choose from. It would make sense for one to be an apartment in a city to act as a starter home for people to try out before investing in some sort of mansion.
And from a develpment perspective, a simple instanced cube room would also be a good starting point for testing out features before trying to get it to work with phased buildings where some of it is visible outside.
Yes. Not being able to decorate the garrison other than a few prefab slots is one of the main reasons the system didn’t scratch the housing itch.
Though the new system should probably have some sort of pre-furnished houses where one could click an object and replace it for those who don’t want to spend a bunch of time on deco.
A must have for me regarding decorating is a snapping system for location and rotation when placing things. Some games only let you place things freely, which makes it rather difficult to line things up. Having a toggle to snap to a grid (or sockets on nearby objects) and incremental rotation relative to building would be great.
I’d like the houses based on the zone.
Since the faction war is over, it should be possible for players to have a house in what would have been the “wrong” zone. Like, maybe a Horde player could have a human-style house in the outskirts of Elwyn/Westfall/whatevs.
Decorations (and/or recipes to make them) which match the theme of a house should be available in the zone it lives in.
what? that’s crazy, did the other order halls or just rogue? I’ve got one of every character that did the legion order hall campaign but I guess I didn’t pay close enough attention to the rogues
It may end up on the AH but it def wont be for an affordable price just like now with the auction mounts, it wont be affordable without crazy amounts of gold making it moot
And that’s fine. It will at least show up there, and be incentive for Blizz to allow it since Decorations can also drive token sales. Otherwise, Decor should also drop from quests, bosses, and openworld the way SWTOR does.
The housing should be instanced
You should be able to select a location theme with accompanied “surroundings” and music. Locations should include capital cities and also rural locations based on different zones(they can roll these out slowly with a decent starting list.)
Outside of capital cities you should be able to pick the architectural aesthetic.
You should be able to either select, or edit floorplans( with prefab blocks or segments)
I dont expect a grid or freeplace system where you can put anything anywhere but at the very least there should be hooks where you can place items of your choice on walls be it a picture, trophy or gear, and for tables/furniture there should be a basic grid system akin to the game this one was designed out of(warcraft 3)
- Gameplay mechanics work
- Dungeons that dont suck
- Working mechanics
- Interior and exterior balancing
- Some harvest moon simulator
I want it to be similar to Wildstar’s implementation.
Since this is about the only thing I could pick from the list that is related to the topic, I feel like the exterior, if it is a house, will be a chosen racial shell, if it is not just an apartment in a major city. As for the interior, I think we are all hopeful to decorate with achievement specific items. I would love a trophy case filled with small items from different dungeons and raids.
Never played it. I’ll have to YT it.
Feels a bit like the garrison model. Not sure how popular that would be given the PTSD of Garrisons.
I want to live in a cave, way outside of society so I can do spooky warlock things
I would love to see something gothic patterned, like Brill, and a basement like the Slaughtered Lamb.
swtor does these things called best view in swtor and they take screenshots of the game submitted by players and the best ones get a decoration made. a gold framed one for the person who submitted the winning screenshot and a normal frame one for all other players to get for free off a vendor on anniversary. it could be a fun community involvement for wow
I’d also like race specific themes. I’d rather not have a repeat of garrisons where everyone gets stuck with human or orc themes
I’d rather have a house out in one of the zones. I do like decorating in fact I hope we can place items anywhere. Think of the creative possibilities if we can. I’d like an option of choosing what my house will look like regardless of where it’s placed. In fact what I’m really hoping for is a build tool where I can design the layout of my own home. I know wow isn’t Minecraft or the Sims so I’d be happy with at least having a wide variety of houses to choose from.
