Okay, I’ve played the ptr. I got zombied a few times. I can’t do normal stuff like AH. But I can get on a flying mount and do a bit of the quest line, which I’m assuming is more important during pre-patch period. So other than buying a few consumables I know I’ll want when the crap goes down and I lose corruption, it doesn’t appear to be not working. I was able to do several parts of the chain only getting zombied once. I promptly exploded and was like 50 feet from my corpse, oh noes a flag but since warmode was enacted I’ve literally never been attacked while flagged outside of warmode.
How is “forcing” everyone to adhere to the same world rules make me special?
You’ll be phased away from any danger. That’s all you want. You want to not be a part of the event.
How’s opting out of an event and back into the normal gameplay, make me special?
There’s danger! The NPC Zombies! They might be tough! Oh and World Bosses, that might take a party to take down!
Because you don’t want to follow the world rules. You want to be excluded like you’re special.

Imagine if you could opt out of Deathwing torching you back in Cata. That wouldn’t be fun or interesting at all.
You want everybody else to be included despite they don’t want to opt in and just want to do the normal gameplay, and your disingenuously using the agrument of “it’s against the rules” to justify that that, as well placing this his “if the event is optional, nobody would join it and it would be a flop”, implying you don’t actually love the event, you just want everybody else to have the same fun as you are doing, which makes you special.
And i’m using this because you a failing to see the irony and double standard your engaging in.

And you’re trying to spin this as a bad thing. You don’t want people to leave your event, yet your okay with people logging off or avoiding the event by staying in the garrison. Your actively being inconsistent here and applying double standards here.
I mean, you really could. Deathwing’s approach was announced (though it could have been with slightly longer grace periods), so you could sidestep him when he did his dragon business.
