The Plague Event is Fine, but only if it's Opt-In

Yeah i’ll have to test it another time, all my characters are stupidly parked in either stormwind or Orgrimmar…and that world server seems to be down.

However the Scourge invasion was the most organic pre-event ever. Honestly imo the other events paled in comparison.

No problem. Hope you can get on soon.

And yet so many people are eager to try it so they are jumping onto the ptr in such capacity that it’s crashing the servers. They even have multiple servers because this was predicted by it still wasn’t enough. Seems to me you guys are the odd people out. It’s ok happens to me all the time. You just have to suck it up buttercup.

Do any of you anti-zombie people also happen to be the ones that cried for the removal of titanforging? I wouldn’t mind getting my aggression out on you When this goes live.

The game does that all the time though. The last 2 expansions have been a bunch of systems you had to participate in unless you just wanted to basically not do any expansion content. Leveling is a system we all had to do.

My point is that even if it wasn’t the most exciting thing in the world it’s a 2 week event that you can do some things to minimize your interaction with. It wouldn’t be the end of the world and it wouldn’t stop me doing what I want in the game.

Which means if we have the option of opting-in versus being forced in, that wouldn’t affect the event at large. Which means we should really have a choice!

Don’t work that way, otherwise people could of opted out of titanforging. Sadly I had to lose mine for those who didn’t want to have it.

Well, you can’t just choose to opt out of covenants. So you can just skip the expansion altogether or… just suck it up. Blizzard doesn’t need to cater to you just because you don’t like something.

There’s a massive difference between people not liking something, and that something being an actual problem.

This event isn’t a problem.

There’s a difference between ‘logging in a game known for it’s PvE’ and ‘actively turning off War Mode and thus turning off PvP’.

Again, I’ve argued in the past that if you’re a PvP fiend, you should have the ability to strictly gear for and level through PvP means. I think it’s awful that PvE environments have the best PvP gear. There should be a hard wall between the two playstyles.

Again, you don’t get to opt out of a freaking invasion.

OP was Dexterworgen’s thread not enough for you to whine in ?

I don’t mind dealing with Covenants though? I didn’t look at SL and go ‘oh man, Covenants are the core thing, but I DON’T WANNA’ because that wouldn’t make sense. When I was given the option to interact with PvP, I tried it a bit, decided I didn’t like it, and turned it off. Like a healthy and normal person.

Why is this so different?

If you don’t want to opt in then stay out of the capital cities. The only reason people go to capital cities is for auction house, so head to Gadgetzan or Pandaria and problem solved. There are also plenty of zones to quest in other than the handful that will be effected.

Imagine if you had to opt-in in order to be apart of an invasion. The world would be like…

Hey Germany I’m sorry but you are doing this awful thing to people, do you mind terribly if we invade you?

makes plans to flee to Stormheim huh?

Oh no! The Alliance/Horde is raiding Orgrimmar/Stormwind! Phew, good thing I turned off War Mode otherwise I might get attacked!

You still do, or did you get to Opt out of the tree burning?

It’s a prepatch event that lasts like two weeks. That’s the difference.

I wanted to post possible solutions to the major issues with the event. That thread wasn’t the place for it, so I made this one. Easy peasy.

If it was happening in war mode and you didn’t have it on, you wouldn’t see it.
