The Plague Event is Fine, but only if it's Opt-In

Hey I’m part of that covenant crowd and I want this zombie invasion to stay as is.

Zombies don’t need freaking consent

Players DO.

Whats the difference?

Going and doing “Other things” doesn’t threaten your “Fun event” but having an opt out option does?

How can you not see this clearly just makes it sound like you want to the ability to grief people without them being able to do anything about it, besides just stop playing.

Eventually, yes. In the early stages the zombies are easily quashed and as the event progresses they get stronger and stronger until it actually feels like an all out invasion and desperate defense. It was fantastic.

Alright, but opt in players get opt in player only rewards and mounts and tabards and achievements

Well that I wouldn’t argue if players who didn’t want to participate were happy with that as a solution. Of course this would mean forfeit of any and all rewards from the event.

Deal. I’ll take it.

It’s not at all like those. This is a unique event that affect everybody that logs in. Keywords here: unique, limited time.

Cool, have them.

I don’t care.

I refused to participate in the War of Thorns event, despite there being rewards in that too, because I didn’t want to participate in that event. No skin off my nose.

There were also a lot of people complaining about covenants saying they didn’t care about RPG, so it’s not exactly a massive change of opinion. We’re not a hive mind.

Though personally, I’m looking forward to the event.

I’m also looking forward to the new leveling stuff so I’ll probably level a bunch of alts during that time too.

No they really don’t that is just your mentality. I didn’t get asked for consent when I was forced to turn against sylvanas, I wasn’t asked for consent when I had to turn against Garrosh, I didn’t have to be ask someone for consent when I chewed them up as a Dread Lord… Players don’t need consent. This is just being a kid at the candy store throwing tantrums because you are not getting what you want. Worse yet it’s throwing tantrums because your sibling is getting what they want.

Can I become a panda and join in the chaos?

First kudos to you. I honestly don’t personally care either way on covenants.

My thing here in a nutshell is, if people want more RPG, they shouldn’t get to opt out when we’re the ones being invade.

With that said there was a mice solution a few posts up. Let people opt out, shard them so they see nothing of the event, they forfeit any and all rewards from the event and we’re golden.

And it was the later stages that blew up in Blizzard’s face and weren’t fun for people who didn’t like being zombies.

Shattrath for example, zombies could infect NPCs. But as it was a sanctuary players couldn’t attack either PC zombies (or possibly anything) Zombies I think got away with it with their aoe infection. That wasn’t fun, it was a buggy mess tha t just made an area useless with nothing anyone could do about it.

It needs some stuff in there for the people fighting back. Add some stuff to let people fight back effectively and keep it within a fighting chance, not just having to give up because they’ve been nerfed into oblivion against the undead.

There is a reason why i rolled on a pve server
this event might be fun for a few hrs but that’s about it
i can def see them losing subs over this i am down-loading swtor right now i don’t expect it to take wow place but who know maybe i will like it more and just stay there instead that’s the gamble the devs are taking buy making it pvp on none pvp server

There is no PvE servers

Only by creating a Pandaren PC, and Pandaren PCs for the period are restricted from engaging in any PvE activities.

Annastar or whoever made a comment about “pandemics aren’t opt in”, and neither is war for that matter. Saying it’s okay to opt out of PvP but can’t opt out of this event is inconsistent.

To address this comment specifically, i understand why you two may think that, but people has different tastes and such for what’s fun and not. And if somebody doesn’t find the event you like fun and rather opt out of it without logging off, that is perfectly reasonable, because they didn’t find the event fun.

Wait, how is it unique? :face_with_raised_eyebrow:

A server wide event happens in pre-patch and players get a chance to be the bad guy and kill other players. That happened in Wrath’s and Legion’s pre-patch events (forgot to put this here) with the demons and such. I don’t see what’s unique about this idea or event.

If you’re that strong against it, then yes I would support you.
