The pitfalls of AI support

So I tried a delve on this toon and ended up dying at the mid-point save spot. What didn’t die were the three mobs right next to it. Now as soon as I spawn they immediately aggro and kill me. I have no time to hearth or even cast a spell. Frustrating, but whatever I’ll just use the character stuck service. That processed and apparently found my situation perfectly safe for me and left me right where I was. I tried submitting a ticket and got an AI-generated response that told me to verify my game files and update my GPU drivers.

My character is now completely unplayable and there is no method by which I can get effective support for this. Apparently if I exit the game for an hour the delve might reset, but the fact that AI support is literally the only support Blizz provides is, well honestly on brand, but frustrating nonetheless.

I’ll note that Blizzard insists they dont use AI.

Its probably some overworked GM with no resources giving a generic template response because they didnt actually read your complaint fully.

You could try reopening the ticket on a stuck character and see if a GM is able to do more or escalate, but I suspect by the time that is done the instance would’ve reset on its own. That said, there’s no AI support. What they do use are form letters, including an automated one when ticket times are high, which I suspect is what you received as I’ve opened tickets near a decade back, and at no point in opening a ticket have I gotten an answer in under an hour.

On a matter more specific to your case, I do wish that they implemented something like the broker stealth bubble on the respawn point, like you have when you move to a new floor in Torghast. I’d urge you to make a thread on that, either here or in the dungeons/raids/instances dropdown of the gameplay category, or to use the in-game suggestion tool to offer feedback as to how that particular issue could be prevented in the future.

I know that Blizz says they don’t use AI, but however over-worked the GM, I don’t see any human under anything but life threateningly bad work conditions reading my ticket and responding with the form I was given. When they say they don’t use AI, they are using a very precise and crafted tagline, but their support responses are clearly automated based on topical classification and key verbiage used.

Why didn’t you just choose leave delve?

Can’t leave the delve if they’re in combat.

Also OP, any guild members online that can come to the delve you’re in to help?

You got a GM who chose one of the templates that they send out. Depending on the wording you used, they either didn’t understand or accidentally chose the wrong template. Humans make mistakes.

Which class/spec?

Where’s Brann?

It’s not AI.

Or maybe we can group up and go exact revenge for them.

Can you not open a new ticket?

Let yourself get killed and then log out and hop on another toon for a while. I have not dealt with this in a delv, but if they function like dungeons and raids you will eventually be back at the entrance when you log back on. I would give it plenty of time though.

There’s nothing a ticket can do, honestly. They either need help from friends or they need to wait until the Delve resets them.

I imagine how you describe the issue could be a key. If I want to report an RP profile that is either way too raunchy or has other not great content, I have to specifically mention a lot of information. Otherwise the GM will have no idea what I’m talking about.

Could very well be someone looked at it just thought you meant “I’m getting owned in a delve” instead of “I’m being spawn camped and I have no way out”.

I will add, though, template responses, a standard in any customer service field, is not AI. I’m just assuming the GM may be misunderstanding your issue.

You can also try posting in the Customer Service forum, but at the moment I think just staying dead and logging onto another character may be the fix for you at this time.

I mean its an American company. This shouldn’t be surprising :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

The GM response would make even less sense if this was the case.

AI would provide better customer service if they used it, its an actual person who absolutely does not care about you or your problem.

I try not to hate on the GMs themselves. After LONG talks with them during my own issues, they admitted they have no power to do anything. I wouldnt be the least bit surprised if they were understaffed, dealing with hundreds of tickets daily, and are forced to barely skim the tickets to meet their quotas.

Your name makes me hungry, btw.

Ticket is kinda scuffed atm lol, I had made one yesterday because Radiant Echoes screwed me out of my shards and it told me I had 1 day and 22 hours before it’ll be looked at.

Don’t think AI support is in place yet. If it were, certain ticket responses would be fairly straightforward and immediate. Not folks claiming innocence, and then getting busted for things said 3 weeks prior.

Text detection is a very simple concept, and was far before AI was even remotely hit the media. AI or even just simple text filters could call things in a few seconds. But if folks are being bumped off for 2-3 weeks prior events… Raises a question.

Is AI coming? Likely to hammer folks in the customer service roles? Yeah, don’t think that’s unreasonable to assume. Are we there yet? Probably not, but… I think it is coming, and no, I don’t endorse it.

Firstly, to the people offering help, I appreciate that. Very generous. On a related note I could likely ask a guildy or even my wife to come help, but I figured I would try to help myself first through some in-game support. I would rather leave it for an hour and come back. If it gets to that point though I will.

Also, for the one that asked, I have Bran set as a tank.

So for context here is the precise verbiage I used in my ticket:

“My character died in a delve at the mid-point save which is now the only location to which I can release spirit. There are three mobs right next to this point that will immediately aggro and kill me. I have no opportunity to hearth to use an ability. I tried the unstuck service and my corpse remains where it is. This character is now completely unplayable.”

I filed it under “performance issue.” The closest other topic I could have chosen was “stuck character” which only links directly to the “service” they provide. Honestly, I don’t believe any person read what I wrote and chose the form that tells me how to improve game performance. It is possible a human didn’t read my request and only read the topic and gave me that related form, but it is seriously five short sentences. I think it is much more likely that this system, much like the entirety of the support system used, provides topical troubleshooting guides based on class of complaint. Again, “AI” may be too generous, but there is clearly an automated functionality at work here. I just don’t think my ticket reached a human being, especially since I got a response within the hour. I have subsequently responded to that ticket that no, their response was not helpful.

I could be completely wrong, but isnt there the hearts for how many lives you get before you get the boot? So if you just chain die until your hearts run out, then you fail the delve and are booted?

I would recommend moving this to the customer service forum. You can move it yourself.
Not that anyone posting there could help you, but that is the best place to get support from your fellow players on how to navigate the ticket system. Obviously this situation should not happen in the game.
