The pitfall of turbo boost

My only gripe to turbo boost has been the soft reset we got when they added all the new crest levels. It has been a PAIN having to grind all the keys I have to finish out my gear, in all honesty we should have had uncapped crests a week or two before. Just so that we could mitigate some of the grind by doing keys leading up to when it launched.

I’m just two keys short of being done, but for perspective it took me nearly 40 10-12 keys to get all my gear finished out, that was an absurd and unfun grind to be subjected to. Which again could have been mitigated by simply having crests uncapped beforehand just so all the keys you do to fill your vault and so forth count towards the event.

In my opinion they should have just left Myth gear’s cap be 6/6 and at the very least have crafted items auto-update with the ilvl increase depending on which crest they are using.

They should never increase the max ilvl mid season outside of a single special item like Circlet.

Wut?

That’s the whole point, they want us to grind, they want us to clock more playtime so they could look better on paper. They don’t care about their player’s having fun or not, it is all about their shareholders.

Weird. I’m enjoying the Turbo Boost event.

Yes, the game is nudged into metrics and monetization so shareholders are satiated, but it’s still wow. Wow was always grinding. Turbo boost takes all of an hr maybe to get the 4 bosses downed. Anyways, yea, monetization of games in 2025 sucks, but its’ still wow underneath that.

What I mean by soft reset is we had to regrind all of our gear again, like we have to do each seasonal start or even expansion start. It wasn’t as big of a grind in comparison to a season or expansion start, but it still created a massive amount of work to be done.

So don’t.

Problem solved.

In principle I agree that it’s a cynical means to keep us engaged by adding additional grind to the game. In practice, it allowed me to get above the original maximum ilvl for the season and cheese my way to 3k io and hopefully at least a few mythic boss kills, as well as gave me more of the one thing that really keeps me playing this game: gear progression. Am I a shameless hypocrite? Yes.

Why? I’m confused. I didn’t have to regrind gear. I just keep upgrading what I have.

It’s a ton of crests but also you don’t need 5 crafted pieces asap. Just upgrade myth track first, really important crafted items second, and hero track meh whenever.

Get your 8, then anything more is gravy. It’s always more efficient to do things over the course of several weeks. If you race, then you’re just gonna be crest-capped while having to still do 10s for your vault.

Bear in mind it’s a boost for the season - don’t need it all max right now.

Yea, it’s the same game, but I have more gear so I feel obligated to PUG until I am resil 18s, but is it really worth it? Like I wasn’t good enough to get that pre-boost so why even bother lol. Might as well quit since I’m pretty much full BIS’ish and ilvl.

So the issue is you don’t want to play the game, and now feel compelled to play the game?

The amount of m+ that it requires is just way too much for me. My alt fun has died.
250-450 gilded is needed per toon. is just bleh…

Okay.

Now imagine you’re a raider who doesn’t even like M+, but still have to do it because it’s (a) the only uncapped source of crests, and (b) by far the easiest and fastest way to get crests, regardless.

If playing the game is unfun and something you feel “subjected to”, then why do you play the game?

I though improving your gear is part of what people like in MMOs, and part of the reason people lose interest mid patch or switch to alts is because they peak on whatever their gear is for their personal content level.

Since you have a tank spec, technically delves are uncapped, easier, and possibly faster or at least similar. I get 45-50 gilded an hour if I feel like being a robot.

Unless there’s something very wrong with my account, delves are still capped at 3 Gilded Chests + 1 map’s Gilded, per week.

You get 15 runed crests per 11 delve. Just gotta blast through the quick ones. Then upgrade to guilded. Rinse and repeat.

Oh you mean convert them.

Good heavens. What a horrible use of time. :joy:
