What happens to WoW 1 when WoW 2 happens?
Just kick all the leftover players and call it good?
and what would WoW 2 change, that they cannot do in either a retail expac, or a SOD-like version of classic?

Blizzard has previously cancelled two major new games that I know of, and if Chris Metzen is to be believed, this version of WoW will be continuing on for a number of years yet.
I don’t even know what most people see as “WoW 2”. If they mean a brand new MMO based on current WoW, I don’t know why Blizzard would consider spending the resources to do that while WoW is still making them money. If they mean the same game but upgraded graphically, I also doubt they’d do that, because anything that stops a percentage of their customers from being able to play it due to computer limitations probably wouldnt appeal.

WoW 2 would be a flop with the current dev team in charge. Same people who gave us WC3 Reforged and Diablo Immortal and who ruined Classic Cata and gave us horrible HC realms that d/ced back to back and even had entire guild d/cig in the middle of riad fights. Same team that allowed WoTLK 3v3s to get to 4,000+ rating because of the boosters and then had to do a ban wave that ended up banning even lots of those doing arenas legitly. Oh yea…that’s cuz they removed arena teams so anyone can queue up with anyone now. 0 rating and get boosted by a glad rated players where as before you could only play with people of a matching CR to yours…
Same dev team that had the glitchy guild roster that caused thousands of people to get kickedd from their guild, or have it showing that you were in a guild when you were not or showing you to be in the wrong guild, or glitching chat to where guild chat will sometimes show you talking in the guild with someone who isnt even in the guild.
Same dev team that had that glitch that has now 3 times total cleared out 100% of everything from random people’s guild banks and still to this day the majority of the stuff has never been restored. No new pet from this 20th anniv. Just the same exact pet that people had to buy in order to get…
Glitchy Wrath Classic prelaunch event where the second phase ended way too early and then 3rds phase didn’t end until the entire expac did. Same team that had the glitch in orignal SoTa to where the vehicles and wall cannons could not shoot so the bg was unplaybe and so everyone began to blacklist the BG and so they had to remove it from the game.
Same dev team that had the PvP random BG glitch to where IOC would pop up back to back to back in random queue and even did so 37 times in a row for me, ne streamer got it 80+ times in a row… Or the WG glitch to where Horde and Allly began at the wrong spots sometimes.
Or the times when they had those massive glitches in 5s to where ratings would not update on the site so lots of people simply quit doing than and moved onto 3s and then 5s got removed shortly after.
Yea… that is current Blizzard now and I would NOT trust them to give us a good WoW2.

Same. I’ve been playing this game a long time. There’s nothing attractive about starting over from scratch – and this time with no IRL friends already playing, no realm community, no alt-network-of-professions, and a playerbase that’s wildly toxic in matchmaker content.
What’s supposed to be so good about this theoretical “WoW II” that’s worth it? Better graphics? Meh.

The last titan is the perfect time.
Brand new start. Azeroth wakes up, her emergence obliterates the planet.
Since the player character has an immortal soul. Our souls are launched through space-time-dimension.
WoW2 2 starts. If linked to a prior WoW account, you will receive a key to a bound trunk. Pulled through the void by an unknown (or known) race (maybe ethereals?) This trunk and key would contain level 5 items for players resembling gear your character would have had based on class. As a reward for moving to WoW2. Or just have all mogs earned in WoW available to your WoW2 toon. Lore wouldnt matter. See bottom comment.
All achievements transfer. Or at least one (the soul reignites) or something showing you played WoW.
This way players dont feel like theyve lost everything they were attached to and earned over the years.

WoW isn’t P2W. At all. You have to utterly mangle the definition of winning to even attempt to apply the term in bad-faith to WoW.

I don’t think WoW2 is on the horizon anytime soon.
Not after hearing Holly Longdale speaking of player housing and it’s a system that’s going to be a core element in the game for the next couple of decades. 
Maybe WoW 2 isn’t needed, maybe it’s possible to keep the client updated and bringing new functions into it?

Draenor’s only failing was that the devs gave up on it to early.
That’s it.
Everything up until “Draenor is free” was the best expansion we’ve had.

WoW2 will not automagically put more content into the franchise. In fact it would be shockingly less due to dev time spent on rewrites. So much effort would have to be invested that if that single pseudo-expansion flopped, it would end the product line and likely shut down the entire studio.
Remember, game publishers don’t just want successful games, they want guaranteed raw profit. Tango got shut down by Microsoft after Hi-Fi Rush was one of the most successful games of 2023.

WoW2 doesn’t need to happen as of yet. The game is healthy, War Within is Part 1 of a 3-part saga and has been mostly well received. A new game won’t come unless they are certain that the player base can’t be maintained or regained again.
The biggest thing about TWW so far, is that it came on the tail end of what already felt like a filler expansion (Dragon Flight) which itself came off a bombing nosediving expansion (Shadowlands). TWW is pretty okay, it’s not great so far, it’s a lot of “we’re setting up the plot and fixing bugs” which makes it feel drawn out and so far pretty content sparse.
Things might improve with the next major patch or two and most certainly will with Player Housing in Midnight, but DF and TWW so far are the allegorical bandaid on a gushing mortal wound, it needed to be a bit more than what it is, and with quite a bit more urgency.
absolutely NOT! ill only pay a sub and a random purchase here and there. The amount of oh we’ll fix that issue and we’ll get to it when we acknowledge that its an issue. states that this company does not care for its player base anymore!
The game is still solid but the players are getting more and more how do i say it nicely, (go watch the ringer, not risking a perma ban) thats exactly what i think of the game and majority of the player base until proven otherwise.
