You guys can try and explain furries a hundred different ways, and I’ll still think they’re weird as hell. Absolutely nothing will change that.
That said, nobody needs to care what I think. You’ll be a lot happier when you learn to stop caring what other people think about you.

Do you know which con it was? Cause I’ve heard the exact opposite from a dozen different cons and a slew of hotel liaisons over the years with a few rather notable exceptions.
Wearing glasses, goggles, or other eyewear can give a +2 to perception rolls.
Have a great day.
This was like 3 years ago so I’m struggling to remember the name of it
I’ll see if I can find something about it in my logs haha
A few of the incident reports are priceless
Just look up Tigerpanda on youtube.
Hes a furry and proved asmon wrong with his furry might.
Its a funny video…has to do with transmog contests.
I know not everyone enjoys asmon but figured id mention it because the furry won the battle vs asmon so you might get some enjoyment out of it.
I respect all sides of all arguments.

Yeah I’m really curios now. I’ve been deeply involved with various staff and the security folk at several fur cons, so I’ve gotten to hear a lot of the stories of the behind the scenes fires that happen at cons.
Is this a troll post? I am honeslty ignorant about the furry community thing… so hmmmm
I can say the one I worked for was in part with Biggest Little Furcon and Califur group organizers.
It’s the same as any community but a bunch of participants are completely socially handicapped and have no idea that people really don’t want to know about their fur suit and don’t want to here them say UwU or what ever
I feel bad for the responsible furries with social skills getting dragged down by a poor internet perception because a bunch of furries have made that their primary identity rather than their secondary thus putting them selves into a box away from the rest of the world
I don’t have too many contacts out that way, but from what I’ve heard BLFC runs a pretty tight ship on the backend.
Nope. If I don’t want to listen I simply won’t listen. Let them talk their ears off. Selective hearing is an amazing skill to have.

Okay so real quick. This is coming from a fursuit maker and artist within the community, so I think I know something.
A LOT of furries are minors like myself. Only 10-15% actually HAVE a fursuit, and even less do sexual things with their suit. Yeah, a lot of the fandom is based on sexual themes, as well as a large LGBTQ representation, but don’t let JUST that sour your views.
For many furries though, the fandom was the very first time they experienced any sort of acceptance or true feelings of family or belonging. Much of the fandom is one flavor or another a queer, and there’s a lot of them that have been disowned by people who shared their blood or the community they were growing up in. It also let’s people play around with the concept of self identity and exploration, helping them live a life as their true self in a way not really seen anywhere else.

Flagged as inappropriate. Not wow related. I have no issue with furries. I also don’t have to accept them. I can, however, mark the thread and move on.

Furries are one of the few groups of people that it’s still seemingly socially acceptable to hate on/off the internet without any form of social backlash. As such, said people cling to the few bad apples in the furry community as a reason to continue to hate.
Not to mention that you also have people who continue to intentionally try and create issues even here. People who specifically make character’s with certain keywords in their character names. Keywords that are frowned upon/cringed at even in the majority of furry communities.
Until people come together and make it clear that it is NOT socially acceptable to hate on the Furry community the same way it’s not socially acceptable to attack people for their weight, race, sex, religion, etc. then nothing will change.
Unfortunately there are just people who will look for any avenue they possibly can to continue to be petty and spiteful without social resistance. Furries are just one of those groups that it’s seemingly acceptable to do is. In fact, I wouldn’t be surprised if someone responds pitching a fit that I compared hating on the Furry community with things such as racism or sexism because they want to continue perpetuating hate and Furries are an easy and safe target to hate unfortunately.

Think of it like this:
Your main char in WoW, right? It’s what represents you within the game, right? Some players even get commissioned art of their character.
That’s the basis of the furry fandom, except anthropomorphic animals. I don’t really get what’s so weird about that. Of course there are oddballs and weird folks out there that stain your entire view of the fandom, and I get that.

It’s like hating someone because they’re a treky, or dive deep into the lore of WoW. It’s just dumb.
