The people that will rush to endgame: Why?

can we please get confirmation on whether or not there will be pvp servers?, you have mentioned flagging twice which acknowledges either only PvE servers or a retail-like pvp system, and while it doesnt clearly imply there wont be pvp servers it doesnt imply there will be PvP servers either and its a little disconcerting

They are recreating 1.12 and 2006 World of Warcraft. During 2006 they had PVP/PVE servers. Why are people even worried about this?

i wasnt aware that 1.12 2006 Wold of Warcraft had Sharding, Legion LUA, retail graphics, loot trading or battlenet integration… there are many mechanics and systems which are being implemented which are definitely not strictly within the confines of 1.12 2006 WoW, and topics such as PvP servers and whether there will be oceanic servers have not been addressed so far… and they are definitely relevant and hugely important topics to consider.

Your entire reply was nonsense. Calm the hell down

Some people enjoy optimizing every aspect of the game, including rushing to max level. Its just a difference of playstyle.

Whats important is that you’re enjoying the way you play.

A lower level alliance could play as bait to get pvp flags. A high level rogue quickly cleans up.

Yes, the way things are set up now I don’t understand why they haven’t just done away with levels altogether.

I won’t be reaching endgame at all, much less rushing to it, but I may rush to certain zones. If I do make a Classic character (doubtful since I think the game is much better now than it was then), it will only be to replay Deadmines and do the vanilla Duskwood quests. Those are the only things I have any nostalgia for, probably because I spent my Vanilla and BC time constantly abandoning alts and starting new ones. I also completely rerolled twice, once to switch from Horde to Alliance, and then again to switch from a PvP server to a PvE one after getting two characters to STV and being unable to level any further due to getting repeatedly ganked and corpse camped by groups of level 60 Horde. Because of all this, I didn’t actually get a character to level 55 until the very last days of BC, and that was only because I wanted to make yet another alt when DKs came out in WotLK

So even though I’ve been playing since a few months into Vanilla, this DK (which is now my main) was my first character to reach level 60, level 70, and every other level cap. As a result, I played a LOT of Deadmines and I really miss that old version, and vanilla Duskwood was just amazingly creepy and terrifying when you either unexpectedly ran into Stitches, or went past that one guard camp and found every NPC dead and knew that meant Stitches was likely just down the road heading towards Darkshire.

He was specifically talking about ganking in the barrens, which on PvP servers was not contested territory so you still had to flag for pvp? Why are people worried all of the sudden about PvP servers. They haven’t made an explicit statement that mounts will be in the game, is there a chance they won’t be? Can someone link proof that there’s going to be an auction house? What about hunters? I’m pretty sure I have yet to see definitive proof that they’re putting hunters in the game, so I guess I should start worrying about that. Stop fear mongering.

its a pretty easy statement to make, “yes there will be PvP servers” and possibly “yes there will be oceanic servers” on the side of less-knowledge and more-knowledge i dont get why you are advocating for less-knowledge… more info is always better man.

And it is definitely a legitimate concern because it was intentionally taken out of the live version of the game and so far they have been implementing multiple measures to mitigate the upkeep costs of classic; visa-vi right click reporting, loot trading and sharding… one of the largest costs to running a game with multiple servers is the multiple servers part, if there was only one type of server that would cut the cost down dramatically… do you seriously not want a concrete answer to this or are you just trolling for the sake of trolling?

questioning and asking the person who can deliver answers will hopefully provide answers… and that is indisputably a good thing, i really dont get you man.

Edit: by the way as it seems you werent aware, he also posted about flagging for pvp in another thread and it was specifically about STV… a contested zone.

I’m going to be so triggered if Bornakk blows his first ever answer to a direct question on this question.

You know a direct answer from Bornakk only regenerates every 6 months!

at this point id love confirmation on anything, i think everyones hungry! haha content release, itemization, cross-realm bgs, av version the list is limitless, this is just the first thing hes posted relevant to one of my questions/concerns

and the reality is this is a really easy question to answer so thats why im asking it, and hopefully we already know the answer… but nothings confirmed till its confirmed

I was sadly on a PVE server back in vanilla because I followed a friend not knowing what I was doing.

We ended up making an Alliance alt priest and running around buffing people while PVP-flagged. They’d buff us back and flag themselves and then they’d die to the rogue waiting nearby.

That’s what they get for being “members of the community” and reciprocating random acts of kindness!

Depending on how close Classic plays to Vanilla (and I mean how players play), it could actually be really bad for some specs to rush to 60.

The reason is that some spec BiS are not level 60 items. As a feral main, I know of several, including a level 40 item, that can increase your dps. If all they care about is max level stuff, they are just showing they do not know how to play classic and will do badly.

While it may not have been actioned/actionable at the time it was, and always will be, griefing to do such things.

If a game requires pvp then fine. if a game has a voluntary flag system then doing things to cause others to become flagged inadvertantly is simply wrong.

Bear in mind I’m not advocating for changing the game to prevent it as it has been made clear there will be no changes. It makes those who did this no less childish and wrong. An “it may not be illegal, but it’s immoral” kind of thing.

Chill out. It’s just a video game.

i personally always laughed it off. I had…at least 3 friends who quit wow and never came back over it.

So…no chilling with them in my favorite game cause other people needed to have small minded, mean spirited, one sided fun.

If they quit the game over that, they were going to quit the game over something anyway.

Bro… You have threatened to never play Classic over about 20 different things.

YES THIS!
