Hey everyone, did you test the Disc Priest Legendary “The Penitent One”? It feels amazing, even more with Castigation talent. But due to nerfs, Schism seems to be mandatory now to have a decent healing output.
Do you guys think Castigation could be viable now with this legendary?
If you’re playing with Penitent one in small groups, generally, your penance casts are better used defensively. When used defensively, Castigation/Twist gain value, but you’re still going to penance in the Schism window a lot of the time, so likely still not fantastic to take. It’s definitely not our best M+ leggo at the moment for anything but single target healing, though. If you’re looking for general throughput and really want to make a leggo for mythic dungeons, Cauterizing Shadows and Crystalline Reflection are generally better (and neither is particularly good ATM either). That said, it is a fun legendary to play with, and castigation/contrition + Penitent is probably OK for the first few levels of Mythic dungeons if you find it fun.
Penitent is better in raids - but still falls WAY short of Clarity of Mind, so it’s unlikely to really change anything talent-wise.

Yes, this is true. Penitent is probably your best ‘second’ for raid right now. It’s just definitely worse than clarity - so if you really want one for first week progression, get penitent.
But if you’re only doing M+, get crystalline reflection or cauterizing shadows until you can get Twins.
