Examples: Worldedge Gorger, Violet Mistake
Worldedge Gorger can only be summoned from a low-drop rate item, and then the chance for the item to kick off a 7-day daily chain to get the mount is also a very low drop rate.
Violet Mistake relies on cross-faction gameplay not messing with each other, and it’s a royal pain to get the correct mix because of communication barriers. After slogging through that entire mess to get the correct mob to spawn, it too drops a special item at a very low rate.
These types of “rares” aren’t fun at all and feel like a gigantic waste of time. I really hope more of these aren’t being shoved into 9.1 and called “player-engaging content” because throwing low-drop rates on top of low-drop rates, or low-drop rates after complicated puzzles, is beyond not fun.

You can literally find a group doing Worldedge Gorger at pretty much any time of day. And the drop rate on the mount quest starter isn’t that bad, I got it after like 30 kills I think?
Violet Mistake is bad because people are stupid, not because of bad design. I’m just gonna come back for that one next expansion when the area is hopefully deserted.
Long story short: low drop rate mounts are fine, get over it.

It’s ok not to like something and I agree the slime pool can be a huge pain but how about you just make a simple complaint without trying to push some anti blizzard narrative?
Add more yellow, it’s the best color to add especially in odd numbers.

You don’t deserve everything everyone else has, OP. Rare items, especially cosmetics and mounts, are good for the game and for players. If you want it, earn it.
I don’t think something that requires people to coordinate in a MMO is bad design. They just underestimated how dumb people can be. It’s not like getting violet mistake is impossible, I’ve seen it multiple times. Just requires people to cooperate.

Biggest mistake folks do is trying to organize when the WQ is up or on Tuesday when the weekly one resets.
You can ask as nice as you want but some Horde dude is just going to grab the 3 red ASAP so he can complete and escape.

Coordination is fine, but if any random schmuck can walk in on people’s efforts and ruin it for them immediately, is that not bad design?

It’s bad design that the mobs for one colour are closer and more plentiful than the other colours.
Of course everyone is going to go for the closer, more efficient to kill and loot and get back to the pool mobs

Perhaps he’s alluding to the fact that you have 366 mounts and are trying to tell someone with 495 mounts that they need to earn them?

Not even. It takes 1-2 packs to get the “summon” item.
Took me about 2 weeks to get the mount and then 7 days dailies. Wasn’t too bad imho.
So, instead of having daily attempt, would you rather have this NPC spawn with 100% drop chance once a week? And then you will be sleeping and someone else will kill it. So you have to wait another week. Then it will spawn when you are in a dungeon or a raid. You will have to wait another week. You like that better? That’s actual RARE then.
Be careful what you wish for.
Cool. So he earned more mounts, I don’t want any mounts I don’t have handed to me. My point still stands, earn stuff.
If you’re going to preach to me about earning stuff, then don’t have 130 fewer mounts than me. Thanks.
