I always wondered why did the orcs help the Tauren over the centaur and not vice versa? I tried to read up on it but I can’t seem to find an exact answer. All I read is that the Tauren were struggling against the centaur and the orcs came across them and decided to aid in the Taurens fight against the centaur. Couldn’t find a real reason why they picked the Taurens over the centaur though. And from I read it seems the orcs didn’t have problems with the centaur until they allied with the Tauren which I guess they officially became
enemies with the centaur after that?
Presumably, because Thrall made the call that the centaurs were evil. And that the Tauren represented what his people were like before the Legion paid them a visit.
Also because he met the tauren first.
The first time they saw the tauren and centaur, I’m pretty sure it was like four centaur cornering one tauren. Not a good first impression.
Oh right, there are centaur in this game…
… you think Blizz will ever do anything with them?
A better question is, if the centaur are also apparently close to nature and linked to the Ancients, why are they so different in character from the tauren?
In a land where everything was trying to kill them on sight, the Tauren’s were the only ones that didn’t.
in the warcraft 3 campaign it show rly well
the orcs find lots of centaurs preparing and march for war
Then later, the centaurs on marjory, were butchering a few taurens, Thrall did the right decision to help then, they talk and become a bit of friends, and thrall warned Carne about the centaurs marching.
The orcs help then, then the taurens helped the orcs later
IT was an amazing story :´)
Tauren were the only ones who didn’t attack Thrall on sight. Cairne used his words.
Because half of their geneology comes from an old-school elemental princess who was still under the influence of the Old Gods.
Basically, they’re the half-breed Children of the Daughter of Therazane and a son of Cenarious. They’re born barbaric and insane from the touch of the Old Gods. (Not lore but the interpretions one gets from playing the Storyline)
Actually, I always wanted to see the Centaur get a more Positive revival in the Modern Story. A Sort of “Redemption” arc where they become a more civilized race that can stand as another People of Azeroth.
I mean, there was at least one Questgiver in Pre-Cata who was a fairly civil and friendly Centaur.
Four legs is an abomination.
Blizzard hire this man!
Even though the Horde actually Allied themselves with one faction of centaurs once to war against the other.
Arguably the quests in Cataclysm-era Desolace suggest that some of the centaur might be on more of an even keel these days, as it ends with the player uniting three of the major clans to drive out the Burning Legion and the three Khans acting like they intend to remain unified.
Could be that at the very least the Desolace centaur will become generally more approachable in the future, with the possible exception of the Maraudine, who as the least diminished clan seem to still be a bunch of jerks that routinely abuse the others.
I am pretty sure in Bloodsworn, assuming it is still canon, there is a Centaur that joins the Horde.
Anyway I think a lot of it came down to the Tauren being open to talking and the Centaur generally attacking anything they thought might either be enemies or pray which in most cases is anyone not part of their tribe.
Well, the night elves probably didn’t kill them just because they were orcs, but because they were harvesting trees in Ashenvale. Cenarius attacked because he sensed demonic magic lingering on them.
So did the Alliance if you did the Desolace quests.

So did the Alliance if you did the Desolace quests.
Yes but I was responding to his comment that Thrall viewed Centaur as Evil, yet he still allied with them anyway.

So did the Alliance if you did the Desolace quests.
Chronicle actually specified that vanilla Desolace was done by the Horde. And in Cata we’re working with the centaur for the Cenarion Circle.
