Rated solo queue PVP content is the only reason I play this game. To be anti-that (or at least that’s how I read it), doesn’t make sense to me.
To the author, 2v2 and 3v3 are the endgame. I disagree. Rated solo-queue PVP is the endgame.
P.S. All achievements/awards should be top%-of-spec-based (not based on rating).
P.P.S. I might have been too pokey – I think it makes sense to have top%-of-ratings too, so that players on a team can both/all be satisfied when they make it. Ideally you have both this and top%-of-spec, and it’d be doubly great if a player is able to make both achievements at once.
Blizzard probably knows what issues players are having, they just don’t care. They have their vision of what they want the game to be and they’re not willing to accommodate much unless they see their sub numbers drop.
Blizzard is honestly their own worst enemy and they’re too arrogant to fix it.
Not bad overall but really can’t stand the idea of allowing people to buy old elite sets/mounts anything of the sort. I think it’s disgusting entitlement amongst other things. It also advocates for extreme laziness on blizzards behalf, why take the time to develop new sets/mounts when we can just give everyone the old stuff or recolor. It’s a double whammy I will never agree with.
Just read through the EU guy’s post. While I don’t really agree with the portion regarding rewards, I agree with a lot of the other points it makes. It’s a well written post for sure (could use a bit more paragraph breaks, admittedly).
On the rewards issue, I don’t think adding in recolors or old transmogs are likely to attract lots of PvE’ers over or keep people currently PvP’ing around noticeably longer than otherwise. I think standard gear power is always going to be the strongest enticement for getting people to jump into PvP, and the general seasonal rewards are already enough to get them to stay IF the gameplay is enjoyable and the ratings themselves are tuned well with whatever MMR formula they’re using.
I’m not saying reward structures can’t be improved, but I don’t think they’re that bad currently either. The gameplay issues though are a lot more serious in deterring people from jumping from PvE into PvP. It’s not easy to articulate all the different aspects coming into play in that gameplay deterrence, but that EU player did a pretty good job I think.
