I just want to tip handsomely for aa gold quality gem to socket into my gear I just looted from a +20 Underrot.
This should take no time at all. In fact, I should be able to just pluck one out of the AH in 2mins time and head back to dungeons.
But the way profs work in wow, I have to put up an order with my gold quality mats, tip handsomely because I like to put smiles on people’s faces, wait an unspecified amount of time for some yokel to spit out a bronze quality gem, that cannot be recrafted.
Recrafting can’t even be done publicly, so that won’t be happening even if I didn’t just find out that gems can’t be recrafted to better match the materials and tip I put into it.
So it’s a bricked gem, when in better xpacs, and literally every other video game with currency as a base feature, I could just buy the gem I asked and paid for, in an AH/store.
Really bad system, you should all be embarrassed that you settle for this. You should all be embarrassed that this is the only thread calling out this nonsense. This clown logic should be viral outrage topic number 1 regarding this game you sub to. Absolutely pathetic, and predatory.
Apparently this is how good mmos do it by forcing you not to use the work order system. Apparently you’re meant to cultivate relationships with your servers resident crafters in /2. Its for this reason you can’t specify minimum quality levels using the public work order system.
Three threads in a handful of hours seem like a bit much, especially when they are all the same.
There was already quite a bit of pushback when the system first came out, you missed all the threads back then. Blizzard does have a valid point about not allowing minimum quality. Everyone would just select 5-star rank and it would completely lock out new comers and the like who can’t fill those.
Granted that made a new problem where there’s very little in the way of creating orders. It’s not a great system, Blizzard knows this, and have said they are working on changes to improve the system. I doubt think that system will ever allow you to specify a rank however.
That’s not an argument. There shouldnt even BE ranks. They are not in the spirit of fantasy games. It’s predatory degenerate time wasting grinds, like D4. It is low tier, low iq, low quality “gaming”. It’s not for gamers in fact, it’s for game buyers that will purchase anything that they’re told to, like yourself.
Professions have done much better without this D4 crap.
Y’all didn’t clap back hard enough if this ‘system’ is still in place. You are not loud enough. You are soft, and will settle for anything in this game /spit
What gems are you getting crafted that you can’t just buy on the auction house?
I’ve had nothing but good experiences as a customer of the public work orders. Provide all the mats, a decent tip given the effort involved in checking the table and clicking a few buttons. 2-5k, depending on the item. Never taken more than 15 minutes.
If you’re listing for an item, providing some 50g tip, and none or none of the valuable mats, don’t be surprised if your experience is sub-par.
I disagree that it makes no sense thematically to have quality ranks. I think it makes more sense, actually. Not everything that even a skilled craftsman makes will be flawless. There are different grades of handcrafted goods. It’s harder to make things at maximum quality, and those things will therefore cost more.
From a gameplay perspective we also need quality levels so that talent trees are fun. I’ve liked specializing in different things on each of characters. My Monk and Evoker are both Jewelcrafters, but my Evoker makes better gems while my Monk makes better rings. So each of them feels different even though they’re the same profession. This level of customisation is awesome.
Wanna fix it? Want it to be alt friendly? Just give everyone all the knowledge points to fill the trees.
Everyone who figured out how to grind this silly system out in the beginning has likely made plenty of gold by now. It’s time to make professions viable for alts again, release the knowledge points.
Ya, I just know it can be a pain to find a good crafter, so who wants to chase down one for a recraft if you can avoid it.
When I see someone call out for something I can make in Trade chat, I’ll msg them first and tell them “if I can’t max it I’ll reject the order”, the response has been very positive and people are more willing to send work your way.
Its a really, really, really bad system and this is not the only thread, but after a few months of this iteration on crafting, most people I know have stopped crafting altogether or switched to gathering professions only.
As someone who actually stuck with crafting I rather like it. I was the guy that made good swords, then I was a weaponsmith and now I’m nearly maxed in Blacksmithing. I like the progression and my ability to stick with it has paid off as I’m the focal point for all Blacksmithing needs in the guild, the community and I get lots of requests from the server population.
The only thing I dislike about the whole system is the Public Work Orders and not because of the system but the people who abuse it by spamming 5s no material high-end gear or people providing zero materials and no tips for Tools/Gear. What are those people even thinking? lol.
To guarantee a rank 3 Illimited diamond you have to use an illustrious insight which costs 50 artisan meddle. That’s a limited resource that I have to farm, so I’m not just giving that out to a stranger.
This profession system is seriously giving me anxiety. My Evoker is a skinner and Leatherworker, and I have zero clue how to make decent gold as a beginner to dragonflight. All the good recipes are locked behind something rng or something else insurmountable for me. I don’t have much knowledge. I bought Dragonflight about a month ago.
Shadowlands professions never gave me this much trouble.
