Mechanics are important but numbers are too. It’s why raids get easier as it goes on. It’s also why most mythic guilds do heroic first.

Yeah yeah I have heard this since TBC. People who want to be carried are the real problem with this game and RaiderIO is the cure.
That’s not true though. My guild and friends will be inviting me to content regardless of the covenants we pick.
What do you thing performing badly means?
You can use the meta build all you want, if you achieve 60% of its maximum DPS you are performing badly and that is the reason you failed the DPS check mr tryhard.
But hey, blame the guy who is reaching 90% of his sub optimal build which is above the tryhard’s DPS even though they are playing optimal build xd
Congrats on being a drag on the entire guild and wasting 19 other peoples time because you think EMO Revendreth looks cool but the Covenant ability is trash.
It is not a hard concept. If you pick the wrong Covenant you are a drag on your raid.

Yes it’s a big reason why people rerolls or just quit the game if what they want to play is just currently terrible in comparison. They already have difficulties balancing classes. Now imagine with covenants.

Yeah and the reason you are wiping is because you either fail mechanics or perform badly even in your meta build, but hey, gotta try to find someone else to blame : )
It isnt like a ton of guilds clear raids with half dps grey parsing.

If my covenant is doing 90k DPS, where I might have achieved 100k DPS on that fight with another covenant, I am not being a drag or a carry. Because 90k DPS is still good, and there will be other moments where my covenant will shine.

The fact that classes and specs are imbalanced is not a valid excuse for allowing covenant abilities to also be imbalanced.
If anything they should be addressing the former not perpetuating with the latter.

Sometimes that does not matter. These bosses have DPS checks. Either you hit them or you do not!
It is just a fact of this game. Add in Covenant abilities and I do not care how popular you are in the guild you are wasting peoples times because you like the cosmetics.
There is no chance I would be in a guild where a leader expected everyone else to have optimal builds but let one guy skate by and be carried.
People are taking time away from their kids to raid and do not want to waste time. It is inconsiderate and very casual mentality.

It’s a difference in player mentality. I pick a covenant based on what my class would naturally gravitate towards. That makes me feel like my class fits in organically with the chosen covenant. The abilities I get are just a bonus; a bonus I wouldn’t have anyways without the covenant. Like others have said, the majority of players aren’t playing on a level where the ability you get is going to make a difference. Content can and will be cleared regardless of which abilities players choose. Those 1% who compete for world firsts aren’t caring about aesthetics and lore behind covenants anyways. They pick the faction, race, class, covenant that will give them the most edge for raiding that tier.
And if you’re not raiding cutting edge mythic with Method, those DPS checks are usually flexible.
Believe it or not there are friendly, easy-going raiding guilds out there who aren’t so hung up on perfection.

And if you dont hit them it is because some people are performing badly even in their meta build, they are a far far more likely and major reason you wiped than someone performing well in a non FotM class or spec.
But hey, not like guilds clear content with half the dps green or grey parsing, clearly the content is made to be beatable only by meta worshippers at 99% parse, everyone else always wipes xD

20 people all not prepared with sub optimal builds sounds like an extremely painful raid with very little progression and frustration.
It’s sad honestly, to see that there are some players so overwhelmed by the min-max elitist mentality that they forget to see other players as human beings. That one choice on a character that deviates from the sim-approved path should be subject to ridicule and ostracization.
