The only ones complaining

I have no desire to upset anyone, but it does make me worry I will say or do the wrong thing eventually.

How this gets enforced is another question

Yup.

This is either meaningless window dressing or they’ll give the duties to some gun-ho, trigger happy nutjob that’ll ban people left and right. I don’t foresee a middle ground option, since Blizz isn’t historically good with finding the happy medium.

Maybe play better and you wouldn’t have to hear it.

They very well maybe, but with some of the decisions Blizzard has made since their scandal and the state of the game.
Combined with the fact that the term Hate Speech in the social contract is in itself seen as a derisive term seeing as it currently has a connotation of being a political buzzword; would make certain people hesitant.

Yeah, I’m sure when I’m seeing sexist, racist, homophobic dook in chat and I’m not saying anything it’s all my fault.

Throwing your religion out there makes it seem like you’re looking to play the “victim” card.

this new contract uses new language derived from a popular/modern doctrine that brands and companies use to mask their own unsavory behavior. a lot of individuals do this too. “i may kill puppies but at least ill you call you zi/zim/zer if you ask” kinda deal.

think food brands that change their name and logos for clout, even if the name and logo arnt offensive.

I miss the Land O’ Lakes girl…

I dont think this social contract is anything but some fluff but like…meh. I dont understand how people can have such a strong opinion about it that it needs to be talked about every day.

Like I said, it’s easy bait to be used by trolls.

Hahahahaha maybe look at the post I was replying to and why. It was entirely appropriate.

Wrong again and I did
Same religion as you but I don’t need to use that card.
So many people just wanting to play the victim

I’m afraid that you are factual.

Blizzard: Posts Social Contract.

Some Players: Uh. So a suggestion to consider being nicer. Oh, and a reminder that the EULA exists. Okay whatever.

Other players: You millennial leftists who never lived one day under nuclear threat can now reflect upon your woke sky. You made quite a non-binary fuss to save the world from intercontinental ballistic tweets. (Rep Clay Higgins actually tweeted this message and got ratioed by the dictionary.)

Yeah I don’t think you did. I replied to someone who referenced a group responsible for the systematic murder of my people as equal to the social contract. It’s an incorrect analogy and dismisses the actions those people took upon mine. That’s wrong and hurtful to us. If that’s crying victim, then it is and proves that we need the occasional reminder to not be terrible people.

I’m sorry your pro antisemitism

I’m not hateful. The fact you think I am is exactly the problem. I’ll happily die on the hill of no person is of greater value than another. That you actually used it should embarrass you.

It was the most systematic hierarchy of ranking humans yet and such an algorithm is exactly how it was validated to themselves. Jewish people were not the first people targeted, the handicapped were. Jewish people are the cautionary example of how this slippery slope slips.

The reason you are bad and don’t even know it, is when racist people see your own racial group preference, theirs does not look out of place. And if this way of thinking was an innate part of your humanity, they wouldn’t be wrong. That is how they get people. All someone has to do is convince their peers you, or somebody like you, can’t self identify yourself as “human” and instead must be “Jewish.” You do yourself no favors when you behave in a way that validates that idea. That belief that anybody not “Jewish” must take some sort of subservient position as soon as you declare your ethnicity, is the same sort of logic the Alt Right uses to validate their own belief their whiteness makes them more important than they are.

And again, if our ancestors crimes, victories, and victimhood, or that of people who just look like our ancestors is encoded in our DNA, their logic is sound. I’ll stick being my own person. Thanks.

My race is Caucasian, but hey thanks for playing. You’re equating the social contract with the group responsible for the systematic genocide of people because of their different religious views. They killed LGBTQIA people as well, just not in the same numbers as the Jewish people. It’s a bad comparison no matter what. The social contract for a game is not the same thing. The fact that you went to that comparison definitely proves that the reminder is necessary. And that comparison hurts people.

It’s a good thing ignore is a feature

It will change the “well I didn’t know I couldn’t do that” people into “banned because we told you and you agreed” people.
