Levelling an alt in the old worlds now and I’d forgotten how bad they were for these type of quests.
Quest Giver: Go to the fortress of Gooblie McGoob and fetch the Sacred Orb of Ooplie.
Fight through mobs get the Sacred Orb of Ooplie and return.
Quest Giver: Great! Thanks. Now right next to where the Sacred Orb of Ooplie was is the Sacred Instruction Manual of Ooplie. Go back there and get that too please.
ARRRRRRGH!!! Why didn’t you just tell me to get it too IN THE FIRST PLACE???

It isn’t really that big of a issue the average leveling time to cap is 200 hours if I recall right. Most long distance travel quests beyond the zelda reference one were ignored.

Leveling in classic was not that bad for the most part. The worst was the 40-45 level range. At that level there was only a few quests, they had you travel a lot, and the quests themselves were a little more sporadic even by classic’s standard. But you can always just get full rest and LFG for RFD, Uld or ST.
Also, I don’t remember if Dustwallow Marsh was revamped during classic or Burning Crusade. If the revamp was in by patch 1.12 it means we get it in classic. The revamped zone was designed like a Burning Crusade area so there was a TON of quests and there weren’t miles apart. The zone was 35-40 so it could help to get to 41 or 42.

Linkin taking you halfway around the world just to get his memory back.
The majority of quests in Vanilla were a thin facade disguising the fact that you were supposed to grind your way to 60. The ones where you run halfway around the world are not even worth doing unless you want a specific class reward.

There was so much quest padding to try to get the most quests into the least real estate which is why you always had to keep going back to a quest location to get one more item and then when you finally went back and forth a few times you go back one last time to fight the boss.
Everyone knows you can’t carry the sacred orb of ooplie glooplie AND the manual of blooplie wooplie at the same time… that’s just not possible!

Haha this is how you make friends in Classic. By questing in the same little area for 50 different quests lol. Eventually one of you has to say something lol. I’m looking forward to it

The great thing about classic is no worgen! No alliance furry race!
And no pretty boy elves horde side win-win

i wonder if they’ll go back to Sylvanus using a nigtht elf body model
Only gnome quests come up with names like Gooblie and Ooplie.
It better come with that little bounce animation she used to have.
I hate night elves for that animation. It makes me wanna set their homes on fire.
In Classic WoW quests grind you.

Those quests really drove me nuts.
Yes, Classic had many of those kinds of quest chains.
If you’re talking about the revamp that included the addition of Mudsprocket, that did not happen til TBC. Classic Dustwallow will be rather barren.

You forgot to mention that the fortress of Gooblie McGoob is in Silithus and the quest giver is in Eastern Plaguelands. And that you have to return the Sacred Orb of Ooplie to a wandering hermit in Winterspring. Oh, and the wandering hermit will despawn when another player turns in the object. For six hours.
Good times.
