The one thing I've not seen discussed about player housing

I don’t prowl these forums regularly, I haven’t even posted since 2020, but I recently considered something about player housing that I personally would not like, and that is its integration into the Warband system.

Of course there’s no way to know if this would be a reality or not until we get a real trailer and not just confirmation of the feature, but I think that making housing a part of the Warband system would be a bad move personally. Of course, there are positives such as furniture and collectibles being usable on any character, but if housing itself is only Warband exclusive that could mean I only get one house all my characters share.

Yeah I know I’m doomsaying here, big surprise, but if this is the way they do this, as a member of the RP community specifically, I’m affected pretty substantially.
That would mean, assuming that housing functions as what most people want it to be, I’d be better off creating a house that is more or less an apartment complex for all my characters to live in, and sitcom shenanigans aside I don’t really want that to be my only option.

Idk, what do you fellows think of warband housing over character-to-character housing?

If I have to collect the same decos on multiple characters for multiple of the same house… then the housing system has failed epically.

One house in one city, one house in another city, and another in another zone, etc. I do not want multiple of the same house or character specific houses whatsoever.

That would be a totally grand thing and I would absolutely LOVE my Warband to chillax in my house in Gnomeregan/Mechagon.

Especially my big HM cow mommy resto shammy.

Yes, I’m a weirdo.

i like ESO’s housing in that, while all your characters share the same stuff, you can purchase ALL the diff houses n housing items.

People doomsaying with a one minute trailer is…hilarious

Yep. This is how SWTOR works.

This wouldn’t make sense as we already have some understanding there is Alliance and Horde housing which doesn’t melt with a single warband.

No one is doomsaying. Blizzard asked for ideas and feedback. That’s what the OP is doing, along with the rest of us.

I mean it could mean that, but probably not. Housing in ESO is account wide and I have like 20 houses.

Uhhhh okay.

Hah thats a funny thought

If they do end up only having a few houses available at the start, I think it would be good to have an account wide housing system but with each house being able to save different layout profiles.

So you could decorate your house for your priest and save it, then decorate it for your lock and save it to a different profile and be able to choose a default profile for each character, or use the same one for multiple characters if you want.

I would like a shared decor collection across my warband like with mounts and pets and whatnot.

I would hate if all my characters had to use the same house.

I want empty lots on which I can build unique structures and settings/environments for each of my characters.

I have been curious about this, will it be one house per player or will each character be able to build their own?

On the one hand I don’t want to collect the same things over and over, but one of the drawbacks of the garrison was how locked in it was to just human and orc aesthetics.

Hopefully the furnishings and architecture will be able to draw from all the racial looks across your faction.

Warband wide housing is the only way I’d even consider interacting with the system.

If I have to make a different house for each and every character I’m just not making anyone a house at all.

we’ll find out more later, but I suspect it’s not gonna be related to the war band but rather to your personal achievements, which is already account wide.

Since Blizzard is known for re-using assets, it would not be far fetched to assume they could possibly put housing in garrisons. It already already is set up to place trophies, has an area for pets, and is customsizable. It solves the dilema of factions for cross faction alts, because each has it own area. What are your thoughts on this?

Reusing / repurposing garrisons would twist the knife into the wounds, especially since a loud majority of the players don’t like garrisons. Their location is also limited to draenor.

But all the furniture you can see in garrisons on the other hand I’d love to see implemented into proper housing. But just the furniture.

Easy fix is having saved presets. Another character has a saved house interior etc

Too many unknowns to deal with atm. But in general I would like account-wide collections, but character-specific placements

Guild Wars 2 did housing with their Janthir expansion and that’s kinda how theirs is so Blizz might copy it to some extent. I get why that idea is kinda weird as it’s hard to personalize the home per character without it seeming like all your characters are roommates, but that would follow Blizz’s tradition of easiest route as it may be simpler to code than all your characters having their own house. Honestly a pain trying to design a house all of them would enjoy as my warlock would have different tastes than say my monk or my rogue. They however got time to make it work right…hopefully they take it but we’ll see how housing works when we get closer to Midnight I suppose. So…late next year I think if not early the year after
