The night warrior quest line

Was amazing. Frankly I don’t see a lot of problems with it anymore. People thought Sira turning was wrong, yet in the quest line we see her doubt for Elune very clearly, and frankly that’s understandable. I’m their hour of need, Elune abandoned them. The forsaken actually felt like a real threat, especially when they closed in on you with the plague. Then there’s also the case of characters feeling over/underpowered. Maiev has a couple great moments that show off her skill as a warden (fan of blades anyone?) and Shandrjs feathermoon stick with her character represented in the campaign.

Then Tyrande. Oh boy. Her VA is wonderful - when she first calls to Elune, she isn’t pleading to become the night warrior, she is DEMANDING. She’s angry at Elune for forsaking them, and demands her aid against them. The little cinematic that played when she ascended, that moment where she killed a small army without a second thought - shivers, I tell you.
There’s also the moment with the horde encampment later, where, again, she kills without remorse, and easily. Malfurion’s entrance, I believe, was also well handled.

Then there’s Nathanos. In the first stage of the fight, I was pretty impressed. Not only is she completely crushing him, she’s simultaneously just incinerating forsaken. The only reason Nathanis lives is because he essentially got buffed by the Val’kyr, and even then he was fighting a losing battle. He keeps this cool facade up the entire time, but against Malfurion and Tyrande, he knows he’s outmatches and just buying time. When Sira and Delaryn are raised, it understandably gives Tyrande pause distracting her long enough for Nathanos to hurriedly usher them away.

Now, I do want to say that the raising was handled oddly. Sira was fine, but Delaryn. “Elune abandoned us! We’re forsaken!” It just sounded melodramatic . Perhaps Something like “The pain is gone…” and then an accusation of Tyrande not being there would’ve sufficed.

Overall though, I thought it was great!

Horde players think Darkshore was great… This is my surprised face. :expressionless:

Yeah, Sira at least is shown to be angry at Elune so maybe you could handwave her turning traitor (though frankly not sure why, even then, she’d be fine joining up with the D-bag who literally just murdered her). But Delaryn? The only way her ‘turning traitor’ makes any sense is if they plan on making her this ‘generation’s’ pre-cata Sylvanas and have her only pretending to be loyal only to try to take her out.

It was about what I was expecting to be honest… atrocious dialogue and hackneyed writing. They are going to hammer their ‘story’ forward no matter how forced or moronic.

And having Shandris Featherdork (a hunter) tell me (a healer) that she will tend to the wounded while I did the warrior type thing just made me giggle. Did they not think this scenario through at all? Oh wait… (giggle)

I think the Darkshore Scenario was the first time I thought to myself “The game is starting to show its age.”

I enjoyed it too. Her demands reminded me of Conan’s “prayer” to Crom. ‘ Crom , I have never prayed to you before. Valor pleases you, Crom , so grant me one request, grant me revenge! And if you do not listen, then to hell with you!"’

After experiencing it, I did understand Sira. She felt abandoned by Elune from the get go, and by the end of the scouting of Darkshore, she felt abandoned by Tyrande. She had hatred in her veins.

Being ressed as Forsaken is not against Sira’s character after that.

However, not for one instant did I understand Delaryn. In her dying moments, she literally told Sylvanas that she could never kill hope.

How the hell is that the same woman that suddenly says there is no hope and that Elune betrayed them?

I enjoyed it although as you pointed out there were some definite flaws, definitely certain things were melodramatic but I think that’s normal for WoW storylines.

Pretty much because they wanted to really beat the player in the face with the Arthas/Sylvanas parallel between Sylvanas and Delaryn and so undead Delaryn was always going to happen (I’m honestly just surprised Sylvanas didn’t just have her raised then and there, but then again it would’ve been harder to push the ‘Forsaken have free-will BS’ if they did and she immediately was all ‘for the dark lady!’ ). I’m still holding out hope that Delaryn ‘betrays’ Sylvanas; that’s the only reason Delaryn being turned undead will be okay.

That music when Tyrande got her super buff was legit. Also that eclipse hanging over Darkshore was the best design I’ve seen this expansion.

I think the voice acting/writing could use some work.

I loved it! I’m really glad they included that storyline because it really shows where all the pent-up wrath Tyrande was harboring inside this whole time and she finally has an outlet for it.
Wow! That was massive AOE she was causing, I love it! Hopefully this could mean new player abilities, maybe for Druids or Priest classes??? That would be really amazing.
