Just the other day dataminers found that 4 additional Allied Races were added onto the 9.0 game client.
These four Race ID’s included races like Skeletons, Vrykul, Tuskarr, and Forest Trolls. The thing is, when you look at the Display ID’s for these races, something else comes up:
Skeletons become Kyrian
Vrykul become Necrolords
Forest Trolls become Venthyr
and Tuskarr become Night Fae
To add on, (not directed at OP) in regards to their factions, I want people to understand that they will in all likelihood, end up as Neutral. It’s the logical choice for people of the Shadowlands, composed of some dead Horde and Alliance, would want to be given the choice of what faction they go back to.
People seemingly think that neutral races are out of the picture, because of what Ghostcrawler said in an interview a while back, calling the Neutral Race of Pandaren a failure. Well, here’s something that’ll shock you: Ghostcrawler doesn’t work at Blizzard anymore! Crazy right?
As for those questioning how they’re “bound to the Shadowlands,” they’re not. There’s no evidence stating they are. People fall for this misconception that only the player characters can enter the Shadowlands, that is not true. Currently, the Maw (giant tower in the sky) is pulling in anything, living or dead, into its plane of death. Trapping it. Luckily, the Player Character and Bolvar possess the ability to pass through because of their bond with Azeroth and the Shadowlands respectively.
After this Maw situation is fixed, it’d make total sense for the Arbiter to send some Shadowlands forces to bolster the armies of the Horde and Alliance. Giving them the choice of where to go.
Probably but story wise it makes sense for Venthyr & Bastion to go Alliance, and Maldraxxus Horde from what we’ve gathered, if they aren’t neutral race wise. So that leaves the Faun of the Night Fae to go Horde for balance of ARs if nothing else.
I wouldnt count on it, considering Tyrande is going to be there it’s obviously going to be an alliance race. Which is good because alliance really needs something good
Or we can stop trying to pull cosmic races into the faction conflict.
It’s laughable these factions still exist as we’re heading into more and more cosmic story lines, all because of outdated clinging to muh faction pride.
Hey guys look, a giant star dragon of death and destruction is eating planets! Lets team up and kill him! Okay, now lets fight for no reason.
I’m not really for neutral races, personally. However, if they do make any of the covenant races into allied races, they should probably be neutral.
They actually do. Look past appearances.
Their role in the shadowlands is to help sinners atone for their sins so that they can move on to one of the other afterlives, or into the maw if they are unable to be redeemed.
By draining the souls of their pride and taking that pride unto themselves, becoming gluttonous in doing so. The means matter just as much as the ends.
That’s a whole issue in Revendreth caused by the anima drought. We work with the Venthyr who uphold their duty, to stop the ones who have grown gluttonous.
