The next centre of magical learning

So, now that it seems that Dalaran is getting destroyed (again), where do you reckon will be the next neutral centre of magical learning on Azeroth?

I doubt the Kirin Tor is completely down and out, but they are lacking a location to practice from, and I’m guessing they’ll be diminished enough that they won’t be in the picture for a while.

Preferably a elven city. Dire Maul historically has a huge magical presence, and its currently not associated with any faction. Hell, southern Kalimdor is basically wilderness.

Hot take: the Vidicaar. The Draenei are a very magical race, and ther architecture is gorgeous. Also it flies. Plus they dont get anywhere near as much recognition for it or a fraction of the spotlight as other races with magic.

I thought it was going to be the neutral city of Khaz Algar. Even their tabard feels close to the theme. :world_map::robot:

edit: Even the city names sounds like Khadgar. :robot::thought_balloon:

New Dalaran.

Bel’ameth might ironically end up that. It is already non-hostile for both sides, and Mordent Evenshade has dialog musing having the Shen’dralar open a new academy due to how many students he is getting.

Outside that it might be Valdrakken. Algeth’ar Academy is right up the road as is the Azure Archives. Plus, if the Kirin Tor end up being absorbed by the Azure flight like I expect as their mortal branch… it make sense.

Some place underground since all the others are held by a faction or other Stormwind Academy for the Alliance and Suramar/Silvermoon City for the Horde.

That’s because Khadgar’s name is dwarven. It means “trust”.

Bel’amath for the Alliance and Quel’Danas for the Horde would be my picks, but realistically it’s going to be Silvermoon for everyone and then Dalaran Mk4 for everyone when elf fatigue hits.

For faction specific I would say it would be cool if the horde actually set up their own faction magical equivalent to Dalaran. Maybe something in Suramar or Silvermoon.

For Alliance they could rebuild Dalaran at the crater and just leave it on the ground lol. Less chance to fall that way. If Dalaran isn’t an option I’d think it would be neat to see the Draenei take a lead role in creating a magical organization.

For something neutral it would be cool if both factions could work with the blue dragons to be guardians of the ley lines and obtain more magical knowledge/power together

Suramar! This time around the magical city should be horde aligned.

Suramar for the horde.

Alliance, maybe Bel’ameth or some place under jaina.

If you want a neutral place, maybe that academy in the dragon isles, idk the lore of the place but if you could have a magic learning place led by the blue dragonflight, things would make sense.

Decentralize it. Build up the fantasy of the arcane traditions amongst each race and city so it’s not, “This place is the best place. Any other place for magic learning and you’re wasting your time.”

Dunno about that. Dalaran fell over just fine on the ground during WC3.

I was going to say the Nexus

But might be a bit too cold

The greatest centers of Magical Knowledge at the moment are Algeth’ar Academy, Azure Archives, the Nexus, Silvermoon City, Suramar and Karazhan.

Dire Maul and the Mage Tower of Stormwind are lesser centers of Magical Knowledge.

It got super voodoed by Archimonde.

Wouldn’t a draenic place work better? Since they’re supposed to be the ones with the superior knowledge of magic alliance side

I dont think having more time makes them exceptionally better, not that it doesn’t make sense mind you, but I agree Draeneis should have a bigger spotlight, specially their arcane side.

From what we saw both in Eredath and on Draenor the Draenei should have magical skills on par with the Highborne at the least. Though, their skillset focused more towards magitech than outright spellcasting.

They aren’t. They don’t have a Khadgar… not even an Aegwyn among them.
