Early comments on the announcement post were surprisingly positive.
Don’t really know why people would be excited for a cosmetics system in which not having enough currency for everything you want at any given time means you have to wait probably 6 months for another chance at it though.
Sorry, not a fan of the Battle Royale cash shop store format (even if it’s exclusively in-game currency).
I do look forward to having more cosmetic items, FWIW. I just think the delivery method is pretty lame.
What negative posts?

I’m just expecting GD to completely have a meltdown somehow over something like this.

I think this is a great addition, but I am concerned that it could turn into something that is purchasable with real money. A lot of games have systems like these, and while they do add a lot, they are almost always not a free thing.
However, if it ends up being ingame currency and stays that way, I think it will be a great system.
Why would GD have a meltdown, this sounds like it is going to be an amazing system…of course there are doom sayers that offer slippery slope arguments that this will lead to more RMT for currency purchases, or others that say this is the first step to going FTP
