The new Timewalking took longer but wasn't any harder

I ran a toon through the obligatory 5 Timewalking dungeons (so I could collect my purple box) and here’s what I found to be true for me and the 5 different groups I ran with:

  1. It took the 5 different groups I ran with LONGER to complete each dungeon.
  2. It wasn’t more difficult than before, it just took us longer to burn the boss down.
  3. Overall, Blizz just made Timewalking take more time to complete.

I queued as dps, and each tank was different.

  • One completely demolished the mobs and it was like running the usual TW.
  • Another tank failed miserably and left during the first boss fight, not because he wasn’t geared, but he didn’t know the mechanics of the fight, and he was hitting the boss and not the totems, and because he started without all the dps inside.
  • The other 3 tanks did their job, nothing more, nothing less.

Overall, based only on the 5 Timewalking I did last night, all Blizz did was make TW take a bit longer.
/sigh

sounds like mission accomplished. that’s exactly what the forums asked for

I didn’t even notice a difference tbh

I ran a few on my Warlock alt for the box and I didn’t notice any difference. The Lv.11 twinks are still able to wreck the place with no effort while everyone else just auto-follows behind them. I literally couldn’t even get a cast off… just spammed Wither on whatever stayed alive long enough for me to target it.

I did some Timewalking.

Things didn’t seem to hit much harder, they just seemed to last longer.

Which I think was the general goal. So people have time to use abilities and actually play, instead of chasing a tank to the finish line while maybe getting off an instant cast spell once or twice.

I guess thats what the community wanted to lvl longer

i mean, i agree, but when we try to point that out in those threads we get accused of being negative and argumentative and elitist etc.

Yeah, and the only reason it takes longer at the moment is that BfA dungeons are long by default. I can’t imagine much has changed for the rest of the Timewalking dungeon rotations. Guessing it’ll be like it is now and they will take an extra couple of minutes. A nothingburger in my book.

I notice bosses taking longer - they actually have a chance to perform their mechanics now. Trash still dies nigh instantly.

Overall it isn’t big deal.

same… I love the exp boost though.

I ran my main, not my lowbie alts. Do we get more experience for TW than we used to?

I actually don’t know. I’m a returning player from DF. I haven’t played in a TWW TW until this one. But the exp boost increases to a 30% (the reward and the exp of trash/bosses), and the finishing dungeon reward exp boost is already bigger than your random dungeon queue. It increases in 10% increments iirc. Anyway. I breezed through quite a few levels in my 70s once I got the 30% boost on top of my +25% warband bonus.

Edit: I should say, it isn’t my first TW. I did the one just before this one but not as extensively.

I did one run on a 71 with full rested. And it felt slower than prior weeks. shrugs, I only got about 3/4th’s of a level. I would have expected a full level+.

yeah I didn’t notice a difference.

I do like them more when I’m not just chasing after a tank though because I play this game because I like this game. unlike most people who are apparently just trying to get a dopamine fix from a purple item in a box… it’s weird

Some of us actually play current content…

Feels like that could be the goal. Spend more time online.

I did 5 as well so I could start working on getting the buff for that mount! What I noticed is the mobs didn’t melt with a single whirlwind but the group kept moving fast regardless. The bosses I fought got to do their mechanic at least once - sometimes twice. Nothing was difficult.

I didn’t feel bad about it taking a few minutes more. I like pressing buttons. So neutral change for me.

Waycrest was pretty short.

Tbh i don’t think there is much of a change, what really affects BfA dungeons making them longer is the bosses having multiple phases.

But when we go back to the old “tank and spank” or older expansions, runs would be around the same speed.

I think it’s because they’re BFA dungeons.

I forgot just how dragged out Temple of Snake is, even without Orb Ball.
