The new tier set transmog is?

Season 3 PTR was announced, and with it a preview of the tier sets. Looks like ours is the one next to Warlock and Monk. What are your thoughts on the looks, I like the shoulder pieces but the helm is mid at best, is this a win or another disappointment?

the middle one for reference

looks like a more tasteful high def version of tier 2. no break from the traditional hunter look of ‘brown, has a skull on it’ so i won’t use it but it’s not the worst we’ve had, imo

I can see the resemblance, I wish the chest piece had more 3rd elements. Also the decision to showing it female worgen makes it harder to see the details.

yeah for sure. i think it’s a mark of how low my standards are for hunter armour that it’s just “a boring continuation of theme nobody likes - won’t use” non-reaction rather than my sadly now-customary “HIDEOUS! AVERT THINE EYES”.

edit: although i am enjoying the unanimous contempt for the set in the wowhead comments… lots of people fed up with brown skulls it seems.

Lmao. Helmet looks terrible.

Also showing off the set on a race where most of the armor looks terrible.

I’ve defended Mail, and specifically Hunter ever since BFA. I think it has a stigma but has actually had some amazing sets.
This set I can not defend. It is just bad. It isn’t even in the same league as the other sets.

The shoulders will be cherry-picked and utilized in other sets, but that’s it.

they also put it next the the warlock set is very funny. I s like they were saying “you will never look this awesome” lol.

Every set this expansion has been “let’s slap a dragon head on it”. All the sets have same theme and colors. The set designers are just phoning it in.

Have you looked at the outdoor set though? It looks like something a hunter would have on.

Mediocre in design.
Redundant skull design.
Only unique in the most strict definition.

They seem to think skulls and feathers on armor is to Hunters what pumpkin spice is to some people in the fall…

The outdoor armor sets are fine. Not really my cup of tea, but they’re unique and well designed.

It looks like they took a questing greens set from Cata and labeled it a tier set for Dragonflight. I think the only other sets that look flat are the monk set and the warlock set.

The raids bow also looks uninspired.
Slight glow in the middle, minimalistic armor padding on the tips. We’ve seen this before a dozen times.

Why can’t the person who designs the Glaives also design the Bows? A bow could easily be derived of a Glaive model, and they always look so much better.

The gun is pretty cool I can’t lie. I’m just more of a Bow person.

Pretty much this, the shoulders are the only decent piece of the whole set.

Did not expect to see that comment. The shoulders are the part most of us have issue with. Same tired skull design as usual. I guess it’s subjective though.

Also, the new raid has special effect weapons for everyone - Dagger, Fist Weapon, 1h Axe, 1h Mace and Staff. Everyong except ranged Hunters. Talk about feeling left out.

At least we are getting Sylvanas cosplay armor

Pretty weak imho, maybe it would look good on other races?. Looks like a dungeon/world quest set. The colors also don’t seem to correlate that well (but I know these are subject to change). I’ve always felt that hunter tier in general has been rather lackluster, which is a shame for how popular the class is.

I’m glad the preview pic is on a female worgen. The most played gender+race combo.
