The "New Technology" to detect bots, is AI

I’m sure most folks connected the dots, but 100% the new technology to find and ban bots is predictive AI.

Which is absolutely the right move for the game and replaces all the GM’s. Welcome to the 4th industrial revolution, showing both the power of AI and the human cost it imposes on society.

Did they say something about banning bots?

In the official video they announced a “New Technology” to fight bots. It didn’t get much attention from the YouTube crowd, but yes it was part of the blizzard video.

How long before the AI recognizes the bots as real players and starts banning the real players as bots? First day ? First week?

Not like they have the technical leads to actually develop this in house in an effective way. They’re 100% going to use an out of the box system and it will break.

Nice. Hopefully it works.

Oh I’m sure they are playing a ton with A.I., more than just bot killing.

I figure they’d be dumb not to. Every tech company out there is probably toying with it.

Tons of content can probably be created seemlessly.
Algorithms can be processed for balance.
A.I. could even tell “what the community will like or receive well.”

SoD is their sandbox lab experiment.

AI adoption probably started the day Microsoft purchased Blizzard. It’s really 4 phases to adopt AI.

  1. Introduce AI to the environment in a read only state to observe the environment.

  2. You “teach” the AI by outlining a player vs a bot by becoming aggressive against bad actors.

  3. You compare the results of the AI identification of bots vs human identification of bots

  4. If you establish a high level of trust of the AI, you allow the AI to take over human processes.

Blizzard ban waves were step 2. Step 3 wrapped up probably 2 weeks ago. Step 4 was when blizzard fired 19k employees.

Blizzard doesn’t have the technical staff capable of running an advanced AI platform for Bot detection and I pity whatever intern is going to get the blame when it doesn’t work.

Well the bots themselves are kind of AI driven…. So….

There hasnt been blizzard GMs in the past 7 years. Bot bans have been automatic for the past 7 years.

I work with AI on a regular basis. AGI will launch us 500 into the future like the invention of fiber optics did

All that matters is if it works or not, if it does then I see no problem.

Microsoft does…

Most people don’t understand what AI even is. I doubt you even understand what it is.

People think it’s magic when it’s the same technology as your auto-complete in your iphone text messaging just applied to different problems.

It’s not a machine thinking, or looking up info, or fact checking. It’s just an auto-complete which is trying to match patterns with things it was trained to match to them.

It’s very dumb and not magical. It just looks magical to people who don’t understand it.

If you ever rely on AI to answer problems correctly you are not smart. It’s very error prone but with correct training you can reduce errors.

Actually this isn’t correct. It’s a self learning program, you give it success criteria and parameters and it will through Machine Learning and brute force learn the pattern that is the most efficient path to the success criteria.

When I first started looking at AI I also thought it was a joke and a rehash of tech that’s been around for awhile. This isn’t just faster computers, it’s extremely powerful. Is it “self aware” no, but it’s absolutely more than just a computer brute forcing until it gets to the end.

Machine learning is perfect to do simple and repetitive tasks like recognizing a bot

There some actual proof to this? Or is this just your own speculation?

Just like the USA gave weapons to ben Laden to defend his country against the Russian, only to have ben laden turn on us later on… I see this scenario happen with AI… World of Warcraft Terminators…

Hopefully that new tech will be good enough to ban bots, gold buyers and sellers so they don’t have to ban GDKPs.

I think you spend too much time on reddit. Not only do you post such condescending BS you don’t actually provide any insight into your “understanding” of AI.

My “understanding” of AI comes from my background in computer science and math. I don’t work directly with AI, i work in data modelling which uses significant amounts of “AI” analytics implemented by our data science engineers.

gtfoh rtfm noob.
