The new Recuperate ability

It needs to be 100% health over 20 secs.

I feel like they only gave it a 10 second duration to try to pretend it was different even though it’s the same rate and you can just move and re-cast it.

It should just keep regenerating as long as you’re out of combat and by your fire.

I had thought about a mana gem hoard or a sack of mana gems for the mana users, but then knowing Blizzard they would just balance fights around them.

What it needs is to be removed. We already have this ability. It’s called “eat food”. If you can’t spare the bare handful of silver for food, then you can sit and wait for your basic regen to cover it.

IMO, all the restoratives should just be set to 100%, and arranged by type, and if they can be used in or out of combat. With like 7.5 seconds for 100% of a primary (may be twice as long when in instanced grouped content, or if within a certain duration after exiting PvP combat). Whatever level food you got, it all heals to 100%. 5 copper goblin water, or whatever. The well fed buffs can remain unique though, to encourage buying the good stuff still.

Recuperate does what it does up to 100% (20 seconds), including mana. Perhaps recuperate also restores to 100% in 10-15 seconds, if you already have well fed buff.

May consider tagging common items (do nothing really besides heal / restore), and allow recuperate to use those at the button press (or I imagine an addon might do that), so that way you can have it use the best, reasonable, form of ‘peaceful / casual’ restorative (peaceful meaning, sure a potion could work faster, but that’s combat / imperative need based). For example if you have mage items, you’d use that instead of just the basic recuperate effect (still cute animations).

Speaking of mage: Reduce time to 100% on mage food and or also add a series of cute buffs that apply (making it like 100% in 15, plus a cute buff), like 10% faster movement speed outside of combat, activate slow fall by tapping double jump (removes buff on use), etc.

Perhaps also add a toy to mages that lets them set out a table in public spaces that can serve X unique patrons a set of food, to encourage more social ways to obtain the food (rather than follower dungeon).

As an aside having heard unique recuperate akin animations in another MMO, that could be cool here- I think particularly some of the classes could have some RP opportunities with that. With potential gameplay impacts - like alchemists can right click the fire and toss a local herb in creating a zone specific buff, hunters buffing their pets by feeding their pet, mage’s table acting as a recuperate focal point (where players interact to get the food, and then if out of combat and not moving a secondary timer appears where a magical chair appears, etc).

Along those lines probably should also revisit other restorative racials, like undead cannibalize is combined into recuperate where if there is a corpse nearby you cannibalize the corpse otherwise some other animation. IF you cannibalize you gain some sort of -kin buff, or perhaps even can collect remains (lol), which act as food that has expiration and with additional -kin specific buffs (dragons grant short range see hidden). Add an enchant to bag that acts as a freezer, freezing their expiration.

Troll regeneration increased substantially out of combat, particularly non-grouped non-instanced content. Like “who needs to heal” levels, when it’s not instanced / combat (add delay when recently in PvP).

Z Troll regeneration could also include a short enhancement to your Loa (no duration, but once combat starts it assigns a countdown).

Although I also primarily play DH… and sometimes I forgot that people need to ‘heal’ because healing just means getting into a fight lol.

I still have a bunch of first aid crafted on one of my characters.

The other day I was on my frost mage and had to sit a couple of times for a food break after a couple of elites spawned some buddies.

That is in regards to having recuperate tied to both health and mana.

^This is what I see too… never seen a melee DPS ask for or give thanks for mage food (that’s the healer’s problem!).

As an aside, I don’t see the harm in having Recuperate restore mana as well as health.

Classes that can hard reset in pvp can abuse the crap out of this thing. It’s OP and laughable.

So don’t let it be used in PvP. I don’t care.

All I care about is that it’s dumb to not have it regen mana.

I don’t know why it exists. There’s not any food being cooked.

I had to look up recuperate to know it was even added. Not regenerating mana is an odd choice. I know on my ret paladins I sometimes run low and I use a cavedweller potion to get a boost, but this ability would be nice to have. I think my devastation evoker has run low in delves too. I almost never use consumables like food, potions and flasks because I’m weird.

I think its weirder its taken so long. MMOs literally 20 years ago often have had a “Rest” ability that makes you vulnerable (can’t attack and take double damage while rest) but allows you to regenerate health to allow non-hybrids to solo level without needing to expend resources to bring up their solo viability to be more comparable to hybrid characters who can spot-heal themselves.

Eating like six buckets of chicken in a dungeon run is so goofy. Drinking water and magical potions I can get, but honestly I much prefer the visual of simply resting to catch your breath as a way to recuperate rather than eating food. Which is why I think that recuperate having a visual of conjuring food out of your butt and eating it is not ideal, but maybe WoW gamers are just so conditioned that “slowly recovering HP = eating” they just had to go that way. Or it was hard to telegraph catching your breath with just animations in the over-the-top Retail art style.

I don’t like the new recuperate, it devalues mage tables, once again leading to hominization.

Mage tables were already mostly useless.

Just make Mage food do something else and add mana regen to Recuperate.

I agree with this.

Why massively devalue those things for people who don’t want to bother in the slightest?

Anyone who has ever spent hours wiping to a boss is glad to have mage food so the whole raid can heal up and pull again quickly and without wasting healer mana.

Honestly I’d be quite surprised if this was the actual reason considering the fact that all the many portals blizz has plopped down around the world exist.
