It honestly breaks the feeling of being back in “Vanilla” seeing something like that pop up on the left side of my screen when I enter a raid. The Raid UI was something added way later in the game, even the art style of it is way different than the art of the old UI. You do not have to get rid of it (although if you did I would not complain), but what about implementing a setting that lets you have the old school way as well. Also fix flight path animations they are not right either or the same as they had been in Vanilla.
The raid UI isn’t anything that we didn’t have with addons in Vanilla.
Just turn it off in settings if you don’t like it.
could i see a pic of the UI plz
Its just the base UI thats in live. All of it can be altered or turned off if people don’t like it very easily. I suspect someone will even make a mod that will make it look like the original if people actually want that.
If they care enough to fix a lamp post in Westfall they should care enough about keeping this the same as well.
I don’t think it matters too much, everybody used addons anyway. Even if they changed it back, people are going to be using ported BfA raid frame addons, not old vanilla addons.
Difference being that players can always use a “classic raid frames” addon whereas they wouldn’t be able to fix an inaccurate lamp post no matter how much they might want to.
“If you don’t like flying, don’t use flying mounts”
“If you don’t like LFG/LFR, don’t use them”
etc.
You have many options in the options. Want it as “basic/authentic” Classic as possible? Take full advantage of the options to remove those non-Classic features. Simple fix. That’s not gameplay. That’s not something affecting everyone like say graphics.
And we had addons. My UI was different from the original UI by far. Never been a huge fan of it. If you want bland, basic Vanilla you do you.
And you mentioned two things you have no control over via an option…
Try harder.
I have total control over them and I don’t even need an option. What do you think that says about them?
Think harder.
Not exactly the same thing when it’s a matter of “this literally cannot affect you if you turn it off” vs “other people will be using this and affecting your gameplay experience whether or not you yourself take part”.
Raid frame addons were considered mandatory in Vanilla for healers. We literally all used them. The specific details of what they looked like are not a big deal.

And which do you think this is?
FYI, this is an MMO. Anything anyone does can potentially affect me.

This is exactly the same mentality Blizzard had when they talked about why they implemented a RMAH in D3 Classic. “Everyone is going to do it anyway, we may as well add it in.” Not good logic to follow, especially when you’re trying to remake an older game as authentically as possible.
thank you Caelle
