The new Intel I9 is a beast in WoW!

So yesterday I installed the I9 10900k into my new z490 motherboard. It was upgrading from the 7th gen i7. I tell you I got a massive frame rate boost in clogged areas. This processor is a gaming BEAST and I highly suggest it to anyone currently looking to upgrade. It even outperforms my 3950x computer (in gaming only) sucks having to upgrade your motherboard to but it is what it is.

If you use your computer just for gaming? I highly recommend the i9 10900k.

Update: Due to some recent comments I feel the need to state do not take this post as run out and buy it. I posted this more as information for anyone who was already considering upgrading.

Hey, just want to point out there is the hardware section of the forums

Oh crap! Thank you I will remember that for the future

No worries. It looks a bit barren though so I wouldn’t blame you for posting here either. Just a headsup

Thank you very much I recreated the threat over there hopefully this one will just die out I can’t seem to be able to delete this thread

I wouldn’t post there regardless, it’s a little bit hostile

Glad you’re happy with your purchase, the 10900k doesn’t seems to be available yet here (Newegg.ca).

What kind of cooling are you using for the new CPU ? What are your temps ?

I’m going to say I highly suggest no one listen to the OP and wait on buying this CPU, it’s got horrendous thermals and you need a top tier cooler to get them half decent, wait a couple months for the new AMD CPUs before making any decisions as the current AMD CPUs already match the new Intel ones and the next gen will probably be leaps ahead of Intel’s for much less money.

No it does not actually you need to watch some of the most recent updates that was misinformation that was wrongfully communicated and a lot of people ran with it without fact-checking it.

The Thermals are kind of high if you overclock it to its Max but if you don’t they are just fine

I keep up with this daily as it’s part of my job irl, right now is by far the worst time to be building a computer as well. Most price parts are inflated right now due to shortages due to the virus, so again don’t upgrade right now unless you have no choice there’s an entire new generation of CPU’s and GPU’s being released in the next couple months that from what we hear are a huge improvement over current tech compared to their last gen.

Great AD, how much did intel pay you?

Proof about the thermal staying low

Even under heavy load mine is sitting at 58-65. I don’t know what to tell you except listen to people that do real world testing instead of people that just do benchmarks

I’ve been out of the overclocking self build game for a while but I’m really having a hard time believing AMD is anywhere near Intel. The last time that happened Intel was selling the Pentium and AMD was king. Guess I’ll have to go check it out as it would be nice to have an AMD rig again.

Nice dude. Yea I was thinking about upgrading to it.

Significant upgrade I would say, what 7th gen CPU were you using before this change?

Im still using an I7 8700K but don’t see it being a significant upgrade for I9 yet.

Ok so if linus’s testing is a good real world indicator for the average consumer experience then why would you suggest people buy this instead of waiting a couple months to see the new AMD CPUs which will probably destroy these new Intel CPUs and be cheaper as well?

Who buys intel these days?

Yes the battles between the AMD Fanbois and Intel Fanbois does get a little immature.

As a semi-tech guy I’ll say that most of us folk that don’t understand everything computer related hear this line a lot. For me when I decide to build again I’m probably not gonna wait even with “awesome new stuff” on the horizon because how often it’s thrown out and unless you’re really into something that involves making sure you have a really proper computer you’re probably not gonna notice.

i7 7700 k in my gaming rig. My production rig has a Amd 3950x and I tried some of the same games on that computer which has the same exact graphics card and motherboard except that it’s a different chips set of course.

I am noticing about a 20% to 30% increase in frame rates depending on the game from that. Which is insane
